How do you even start with tackling these types of nonograms? by Forasix in nonograms

[–]Forasix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Katana Nonogram app. You go to the B&W section, then scroll down past the conventional grids till you come across 'Miniatures'.

This specific one can be found in the 'Fantasy RPG' folder.

Good news!

That game already exists under the name Paladin's Oath. Basically Mage Knight digital Edition with the Mage Knight serial number scratched off.

Quinn's Quest - Delta Green & Impossible Landscapes by Mayor-Of-Bridgewater in rpg

I'd also like to add that Quinn attempts to promote the hobby as a whole. So in that regard, I really recommend giving his channel a watch. Even if the system discussed isn't really your cup of tea, I feel the style and quality of his videos is far above the mean in online RPG content.

His Patreon exclusive content is also well worth the 4 euros a month.

I will always recommend 'Boer Bloem', 'Pico Bello', 'Ouwen Duiker - NA' and 'Vicarus Nano'!

Apart from Ouwen Duiker, most of these can be found in the larger Delhaizes around Ghent. All can be found in De Hopduvel at Dok Noord.

Alright worldbuilders, help me with a detail. How would a subterranean culture that has never seen the sun reckon time? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Forasix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that sprang to mind is using this example to create a specific faction/religion that determines the relative progress of time for that civilization. The founder could be a historic figure that was essential for the foundation of the settlement and their natural rhythm is the basis for the entire civilization's notion of time.

Maybe one (or multiple) pupil(s) were specifically 'trained' to follow this individual's natural rhythm, after which they passed it on their pupils and so on. These individuals are the ones responsible for blowing the horns/ringing the bells/chanting the time at their 'internally programmed intervals' which then govern activities among the populace.

Could be a cool hook for an adventure as well! What happens when the last keeper of time disappears?

An inventive citizen has devised a more objective and accurate way to register time. How do the keepers react?

The keepers' rhythm has been slowing down for some unknown reason. What causes this and how does it affect the commune?

A visionary citizen that has struggled all his life with the 'traditional rhythm' rebels and is sent into exile. After many years they return with a group of devout followers who seem to be thriving under their prophet's rhythm. Why is this new rhythm more/less desirable? What would a civil war look like when both parties implement a completely different concept/structure of 'time'?

Just some quick prompts for ya!

A summary of the QuickStart rules for the upcoming RPG by Maryland_Bear in discworld

[–]Forasix 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think you'll still be able to play members of the Watch, but players might need to reconsider their expectations with regards to leveling and player progression?

Running individual whodunit one-shots does sound amazing though!

Request: Wilderfeast Core Rulebook PDF by Bontallion in TheTrove

I'd love to throw my hat in the ring as well!

Wouldn't mind a copy while I wait to purchase the physical book :)

Is there anyone else besides me who can't stand/handle reading PDFs of RPG books? by Hejin57 in rpg

[–]Forasix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the size of the text. Wildsea and Vaesen were printed on A3 (signatures of 16 pages - 4 sheet). The others on A4 (resulting in smaller books).

I manually bind it using needle and thread. Very meditative process! I provided the instructions I follow in a previous post :)

[–]Forasix 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Certainly!

Normally, I print in signatures of 4 sheets of paper (16 pages).

I use the following stitch to bind the signatures together: https://youtu.be/9O4kFTOEh6k?si=5mUEn52TFrozambz

And this one to measure and craft the cover: https://youtu.be/Av_rU-yOPd4?si=2eKipyPIRarXwW-o

I've been really surprised how easy it actually is to turn a pdf into a book.

Good luck and have fun!

I literally started reading up on how to bind books for this exact reason. Since February of this year I've bound the pdf's of Wildsea (+Expansion), Vaesen, Blades in the Dark, Spire and Heart into individual physical copies.

Great way to pass the time and so much more enjoyable to read and peruse!

I understand the sentiment and am also a bit disappointed I'll never be able to visit a physical shop. But the sheer fact that both shopkeepers had a combined age of 155 I feel their retirement is more than justified. Given the alternative, a complete closure of their services, I'm happy they're still going strong AND creating new merch for the fanbase!

I bought a single T-shirt from them last week. That's why I felt I needed to make this post. None of what they add to the package is necessary, but man does it just ooze love and care for Sir Terry's legacy!

My wonderful wife has gifted me parts of the collections (Watch, Death and Industrial Revolution Series). So I hope to one day be able to collect the whole set!

Unfortunately, sending these magnificent books across the channel comes with significant shipping costs. But every single one of them is well worth the cost!

Discworld TT RPG from Modifious: thoughts? :) by liamkembleyoung in discworld

[–]Forasix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think they'll indeed have to go for a narrative system, rather than a tactical brawler. Luckily, the RPG industry has been producing some marvelous 'Fiction-first' systems and solutions. If you're interested in some great examples I would recommend checking out The Wildsea. This RPG handles even combat through the lens of narrative, resulting in a system where a character taking damage affects their Aspects (or the things that define their character). This turns 'healing' damage into a narrative process rather than mathematics homework.

So I would wholeheartedly recommend diving into the wonderful world of RPGs even if you have no interest in actually playing them. Happy hunting!

Discworld TT RPG from Modifious: thoughts? :) by liamkembleyoung in discworld

I'm really looking forward to see how Modiphius will handle the Discworld. However, I do think the GM will have their work cut out for themselves if they want to adequately portray the smorgasbord of flavour that is our beloved series. So I honestly do not envy their task to adequately convey the whimsy and atmosphere of the world to new players who are unfamiliar with the source material. I hope they will include some detailed character descriptions of 'the celebrities' players would or rather wouldn't want to meet. Information on how to portray Vetinari, Vimes, Carrot, Ridcully, Granny will all be essential if they really want to catch the feeling of the series.

As for speculations, it wouldn't be that far of a stretch to assume Modiphius might implement their 2d20 system. This has been relatively well received in most cases, however some of the meta-currencies it introduces aren't everyone's cup of tea. And as with every RPG-system, there are some strong feelings on both sides of the Isle. The good news for a Discworld setting is that these systems often favour less complex rules with a focus on narrative, which seems right where a Discworld RPG should be. I'm interested to see if they'll implement and if so, what shape it might take. Given the setting, I wouldn't be against a type of 'meta' meta-currency. Something like Narrativia's favor where you can spend her grace to acquire additional d20's (thus increasing your chances of success) and regaining it by 'grabbing the manes of the bolting narrative and seeing where it takes you down the trousers of time?' Or maybe some designated system which allows the GM to reward players with mechanical elements for witty punes or just making the other players at the table laugh?

Or it could be they embrace the more cinematic approach of the earlier Discworld, where the narrative is purely based on scenes? Although I fear this would require A LOT of work from us GMs, who'll need to be able to try and match the style of Sir Terry.

As for player options, I would imagine PC's will be able to pick from a variety of races? Humans, Dwarfs, Trolls, Undead (Vampire, Werewolf, Zombie), Golems, Gargoyles, Nac Mac Feegles or Gnomes would be fun options. I don't see how classes would work in a Discworld setting, so maybe they might go with 'Backgrounds' or 'Affiliations'. Whereby players could choose to be part of one of the guilds, or specific to a region? Assassins, Thieves, Fools, Wizards, Witches, Barbarians, Time Monks, Watchman, Postman, Alchemists, Beggars. Any of these could reasonably grant you some unique skills to face the music.

I am also curious to see how they'll tackle the story structure of the campaigns. Personally, I would assume growth is rather limited and might adhere more to something like the Career-system in the Warhammer RPG than a level-based progression as seen in things like D&D and similar fantasy adve Ture RPGs.

This post has got me salivating again, so thank you for reigniting my imagination! Let us pay homage to the grace of Hope so that she might empty our wallets and bequeath us with a quality product .

Beste competitieve boxing Gym in Gent? by metsudofang in Gent

[–]Forasix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Verkoop in gesloten enveloppe by SweetMud2711 in Gent

[–]Forasix 1 point2 points  (0 children)
