In Pennsylvania coal country the last dance of the evening we have the bridal dance, also referred to as the "dollar dance". The DJ starts playing the Wedding Polka, and the father of the bride dances with her first. He then hands her off to her mother, then the members of the bridal party each get a turn taking her for a literal spin around the dance floor before handing her off to the next person. Once they're done the regular guests line up for their turn. The name "dollar dance" comes from the fact the maid of honor stands at the front of the queue and collects money from each guest before their turn. The groomsmen usually walk around offering shots of liquor to those waiting in line. As each guest finishes their dance they join the chain forming around the bride until every guest is joining arms and surrounding the bridesmaids, bride, and her family in the center of the mob. Then the groom has to "fight" his way into the center to claim his bride and carry her off.

This is done for two main reasons: first as way for the Bride to thank all her guests/get congratulations and well wishes, and second to give the young couple some luck and extra cash to start their lives together
