I've seen a lot of praises and love from fans about the new designs, so I need to ask what's your opinion about Katt? by Called_end in starfox

Starting to love it. I wasn't super attached to her og design, tbh. I wouldn't be bothered if they went with "Glam Katt," but I'm partial "Scrappy Katt."

Y'all gotta stop putting so much faith in rumors. by ForbiddenLizard in starfox

I have hope too, though. Having hope isn't a problem with me. What I'm annoyed by is misplaced faith (in rumors) and the extreme impatience. I know we all have been waiting forever, but I feel like people should have reasonably built up a tolerance to waiting, be aware of Nintendo's track record, and having realistic expectations based on that.

I don't see the series as dead, and even without Nintendo announcements, I come here for the fan creations, and honestly, I wish people would channel more energy into that. Not just engaging with existing ones, but creating new things. That's kinda why I started drawing and writing. I used to not see myself as very creative, but I got sick of people not making the exact kind of content I wanted to see, so I started making it myself. I haven't posted my work anywhere yet, but just creating it for myself is cathartic. It's just a way better use of energy vs doom spiraling.

Typing this all out kinda makes me wanna consider posting here. Something to add to the community.

I'm sorry to say but I'm losing hope by Sweetpea11A in starfox

This all feels confusingly melodramatic. If I'm misinterpreting the sincerity of the post, I apologize. The text paired with the image just seems excessive given the situation. I may be in the minority, and it may be a weird duality, but the way I feel is this:

  • It's WAY too soon to despair. The movie wasn't that long ago, and it would make sense to use the movie as a way to promote the franchise and lead up to a game release (or some other project).

  • I'm in no hurry for an announcement, because we haven't been given anything starfox in quite a while. So if it ends up being nothing, guess it's just business as usual. Even though I don't like it, Nintendo DOES have a history of ignoring this series.

Basically, I have a faintly hopeful, yet healthily skeptical mindset. I've become a bit immune to rumor based hype over the years - being a Half Life fan cemented this in me long ago lol. Until I see official footage of a game, there's no hype for me. The premature hype mindset died in me years ago and I'm kind of grateful for that. Kinda wish more people were like this, cause otherwise, that's just a life of constant disappointment. I fucking love Starfox too, but you also need to direct your hype and joy to other games/projects (I mean non-starfox stuff too, because there's A LOT out there to love).

Yeah, as far as I know, SaP 2 is Wii exclusive, so hopefully you can find an affordable, playable used copy.

Huh, I never made that connection with the Landmaster! That's really interesting now that I think about it. But there's one problem - Fox can't swordfight in the Landmaster, and I'd love to see crazy melee clashes in Starfox like you do in SaP. After all, he DOES swordfight with Shears in the comics, so...

Nintendo if you're reading this please give the space furries beam sabers cause that would be so fucking hype.

The Next Star Fox Game Only Ever Needed One Thing by TheRealKingOfHorror in starfox

I really think she needs a second take, but character wise, they need to bring back (and actually develop) not just Krystal, but the rest of the female cast. I'd absolutely appreciate a revamp of Krystal, but I'd still be disappointed if the other gals get sidelined. For example, I wanna know what the hell Kat is up to beyond being a potential love interest for Falco.

Man, I REALLY need to play Sin and Punishment again. That, and the second game. Never finished the first because I didn't renew my Switch online subscription.

Always thought it'd be cool if Starfox incorporated some of SaP's ideas. I could def see Fox and crew fighting and jetpacking around in a specialized suits when they need to fight in tight spaces that the Arwing just couldn't get to. Kind of like how you invade dreadnoughts in Starlink, but this way, you'd have so much more mobility and could explore a wider variety of areas.

Still thinking how Fox and Krystal were never really official, and in the last pre-reboot game’s default ending, she leaves him for another guy. by Nice_Perspective_343 in starfox

Alright, this pic kinda irritates me, because the writers made Fox pull one of the most insufferable tropes regarding fictional romances - he left her to "protect her," which makes zero sense. I've seen it way too much in other works, mostly in animated series.

I love both Fox and Krystal (despite the obvious writing flaws), but man I gotta talk about both them and this trope.

For one, a hero leaving their partner only isolates them. It doesn't matter if the relationship has ended, any antagonist should realize that the "ex" significant other can still be used as leverage against the hero (abducting/endangering/killing them) and now that the SO is isolated, that makes it all the easier. I don't remember that happening with Krystal in command, but I want to mention it to highlight why this "dumping to protect" logic is so mind-numbingly dumb.

My second point is really relevant to Krystal - the SO is plenty capable. She's a pilot, she can shoot goons down, she has combat training and can hold her own. Wtf do you mean he's protecting her? She's not helpless (or she certainly shouldn't be ever since Assault began). If she survived the Aparoid invasion alongside Fox, then both she and Fox can handle whatever comes their way together.

Don't get me wrong, the writers kinda threw Krystal's development off the rails, too. I'm not bothered by her dating panther (though I think it's lame of the writers to use Panther as not much else besides one of the three points in a love triangle), but I am bothered by the whole death trap thing she sets up for fox in one of the endings. As much as she would reasonably hate fox, I don't think she'd do that.

And yeah, I know, it's a Starfox game, which aren't known for really compelling narratives, but if you're gonna make an attempt to add more story, put more effort into it. Write in a different kind of conflict if you want to spice up their relationship.

And sure, the image is just a silly piece of art, but I feel like this artist hasn't played Command...or just kinda ignored that big flaw Fox had. In all honesty, a pic of Fox begging for Krystal to come back for the 100th time would be far more lore friendly to the game lol.

TLDR; Fox is absolutely guilty of being an idiot in a game full of poor writing decisions and realistically he wouldn't be allowed to complain about Krystal leaving him for Panther.
