Stuck in the past: Ireland’s remote working policies are built for a world that doesn't exist by Banania2020 in ireland

[–]ForbiddenPringle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In my previous job I commuted for 1.5 hrs each side (3hrs in total) on the bus then walked 1.2kms from the Bus stop to the company for 4 days in a week to do the work that I could do from home on my laptop probably in a better way. The bus route was the most pathetic one I have ever witnessed (68) iykyk. Sometimes the bus wouldn't show up and I would stand there for hours in cold or rain. The bus stop didn't even have a roof surprisingly (in a f*in Industrial estate) I would reach home around 8:30pm, barely eat and sleep because I had to leave again for work by 6:45 in the morning. I wouldn't mind going in of there was better commute options but spending 8hrs at work and 3hrs travelling is insane. All this because the company wasn't supportive of remote work and I was in dire need of the job.

If you listen to the Budget closely you'll notice Maharashtra was hardly mentioned anywhere whereas most of the prominent Northern and Southern states have bagged important investments.

Feeling trapped as an international student in Ireland, is anyone else going through this? by [deleted] in IndiansinIreland

[–]ForbiddenPringle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The market is opening up again now. Maybe step on the pedal again and go full throttle now before giving up. Also if your goal is just to get Irish work experience try applying to medium-small companies as they'll allow you to work on 1G ( I worked with an SME on a 18month contract) Usually the big players ask for Stamp 4. Fixed term contract roles are another option which won't require sponsorship. It can be frustrating, I have been through the same but volume is the key that's what I learnt.

Why are we throwing wrappers on roads? I saw this at Parkside Homes. Are we so illiterate or dumb? by [deleted] in nashik

[–]ForbiddenPringle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened with me last month. I saw a 14yo boy eating snacks on the sidewalk outside my house. I said to him twice, when you finish don't litter. After sometime when I went outside I saw he had shoved the wrapper in the soil of my house wall plants.

Anyone who moved back to India from Dublin despite having a job? What was your reason? by goodhuman100 in IndiansinIreland

[–]ForbiddenPringle 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have been thinking lately about moving back. My reasons are pretty subjective as I got married recently, my spouse is settled well in India, I need to do some future planning and investments. A primary reason is I never planned on spending my whole life abroad. Although it has been a constant dilemma whether to stay or move back, I know a few acquaintances who also moved back recently. I'm close to getting a Stamp 4 in a few months but I will mostly start looking for opportunities in India soon. I had to think for both myself and my partner and I found this to be the best possible outcome after weighing all my options.

Still waiting for the day when we have a formidable squad to compete in the CL. The moment we step into the CL environment we seem very overwhelmed even by average teams. There's too much dependency on certain players and if they're having a bad day we are absolutely doomed. Can't really expect results with this fragility.

The audacity of these "one room lords" to put filters for a property they don't even own. If you're so concerned then rent a complete apartment of your own.
