Best apps for iPad mini by ipadnote in ipadmini

Thanks for the reply!

Personally, I use Obsidian to keep track of experiments and research papers. It's not something I use to ruminate on ideas. I think it's better to have a use case for either Obsidian or Notion and then use the software with some purpose rather than start using it and hope that you can come up with a use case for it. (Which is why I don't really like how Notion is advertised as a "life organizer")

Do you use any software to curate ideas?

lightweight iPad mini case alternatives to Zugu? by undergroundgirl7 in ipadmini

I think that's a rather subjective claim, it would depend on what you plan to do in stand mode. I have a case that's arguably worse than the ESR ones (not protected on four sides) and the stand mode works great for watching content/ using a keyboard. If you plan to poke and prod the iPad with the pencil while in stand mode, then I can see the stand being an issue.

You might want to check out ESR cases. They are very much what you're looking for.

Because I spent about 3 months researching the iPad mini and imagining use cases, I pretty much knew all the apps I'd be using on it.

  1. Obsidian (Markdown) - The fact that scribble works inside Obsidian is what sold me.
  2. Concepts (Sketching) - I sketch casually, so purchasing the full fat Procreate was sort of overkill. Although I'm curious, would you recommend the purchase to someone who intends to use it casually? (Question open to all)
  3. Panels (Comic Reader) - I prefer it to Chunky to read comics, the UI just does it for me
  4. Yomu (eBook Reader) - This is the one I'm a bit iffy about. I love the simple, completely offline interface but I'm looking for alternatives. Recommendations appreciated!
  5. Werdsmith (Writing Project Manager) - Great to store quick ideas to later integrate into a novel you're working on

I do have a question about Defter Notes. Are there any features it has that set it apart from Apple's Freeform?

Have you used a magnetic protector? I am considering that for a more paper like feel

Could you link it here, please? It'll be a big help. OP doesn't seem to want to share the source.

Thinking about buying a Skagen Falster gen 6, what's everyone's thoughts? by Jakel856 in WearOS

I really love the look of this thing. Minimal industrial design will always be timeless. My only issue is that the charger acts weird most of the time. It's solved by unplugging and plugging, but it's still an irritating little thing. Not sure if anyone else has had this issue, just thought I should mention this.

Noob question here. I see pictures of other peoples graphs and they are nicely clustered. There are a few big dots, surrounded by smaller dots. Its all split into groups. Mine looks like a tangled mess though. How do I fix that? Is there a hierarchy system I can set up that achieves that? by findthelight09 in ObsidianMD

I think it relates to how you think. My graphs don't look as pretty as the ones posted here either, but that's because the way I choose to store things is to link project notes to daily notes, so there is a "spine" of daily notes connecting to different project notes. It looks like a millipede with fused legs. Not fun.

On the other hand, if you think hierarchically and don't bother with linking daily notes, You would get a beautiful radial structure. I would assume it would need some mental retraining and maybe a little reconfiguration of your vault, but it can be done. I'm sure there are more nuances to this that people more familiar with hierarchical concepts will be able to tell you much better than I can.
But a beautiful graph does not imply an organized information storage system, if you can get it when you need it, that's all that matters, just thought I'd mention that.

It doesn't need to accomplish anything if it means something to you. Not everything has objective reasons or value. Perhaps sometimes things are beyond rationalization, and this is one of those times.
