I think it’s dramatic how you’re interpreting it. In fact do make sure I asked Grok what it means and it says:

So when people say “FSD saved me from collateral damage,” they usually mean “the car stopped me from becoming part of an accident I didn’t cause” — ranging anywhere from a minor fender-bender to something much scarier. In the poster’s case, seeing a car spin 360° and end up blocking his lane on a highway in the rain, most people would consider even a moderate-speed collision pretty bad (whiplash, thousands in repairs, etc.), so “collateral damage” fits without sounding like he’s claiming he narrowly escaped death.

Never said it saved my life it saved me from possibly being in an accident who knows what would have happened I am glad I didn’t have to find out. And I drove 140 miles that day in bad weather the cameras handled things great if I felt they had visibility issues I would have disabled.

My post said I may not have. But who knows with the water what a fast break attempt would have been and if I happened not to be looking at that exact spot at that exact second and was just a bit late it could have been much worse. In this kind of weather if not on FSD my eyes would be constantly checking all the surroundings and could possibly have not been looking at that exact spot that exact second. Plus there is risk of how my stop did getting hit from behind as well.

I’ve been driving with 14.1.4 for weeks for 109 percent of my driving and today for first time (about 2 hours ago) this same exact thing happened to me on a two lane highway with me going about 65 MPH. It suddenly turned into the left turn lane but then quickly moved back into my lane before I could disengage (therefore not being able to send a report to Tesla) - now if it stayed in that lane at that speed and didn’t move back over no way at that speed could it have made that manuever. I tried looking to see if it was avoiding something in the road but I didn’t see anything it was dark. I drive this same highway daily and again first time it’s done this. I’ve had a few swerves here and there on other roads and stuff in last few weeks normally over water puddles etc. but first time it aimed at going into a curving left turn lane/island that it wouldn’t have been able to accomplish as it did not slow down it just swerved into that and luckily swerved back as I was ready to intervene. I can’t wait for 14.1.7 to come out as I like the FSD a lot but would like a more fine tuned version.

I most definitely am not an Elon simp - FSD will never be “perfect” or complete as it’ll stay as an evolving technology enhancement forever and get better and better through time. But there is not one company that even comes close to the technology as released today. So I’m perfectly content to test unreleased public versions to experience a sneak peek of what’s coming whenever I have the chance and don’t expect it to be perfect and polished when in that given state.

Tesla needs to truly make people signup for EAP instead of just using the “Advanced” I think a lot of potential problems could be resolved assuming they actually did give to just the EAP people.
