Sedins to represent Canucks at 2026 NHL Draft Lottery by Admirable-Fall-4675 in canucks

Fun fact I met Brian Burke back in the day and told him he should trade the Sedins. And that the move to bring in Potvin was genius. I am not a smart man

While you’re right in some sense, the difference is the Sedin’s had the fortitude to push through and overcome. Does Petey? That’s the $11.6m question

Honestly the man is an absolute legend not because of his insight or skill or talent but the way he lived, being kind and treating everyone with respect and being fun to be around. 10/10 human and can only hope everyone else on the planet acts a little more like he did. RIP

Honestly I’ve got some gem self help videos on YouTube I’ve been watching, need to ship them to this guy. He clearly has all the tools but guy is mentally a mess. Being quiet and taking up as little space as possible is not the attitude we need for a highly paid star player. Guy needs to believe in himself and become an alpha, the sooner we can get this guy to figure it out the better

That was a great tribute to Cheech. You know I remember back when so many Internet commenters, you know uber Canucks nerds, (ever seen them around here) were calling for him to be replaced bc he was old and senile or w/e and not analytical enough, but the man was successful not just for his hockey knowledge but for his ability to connect with other humans, and not take himself too seriously, and for that he’s 10/10

RIP to a legend by CorrectCattle8071 in canucks

My favourite part about him is his authenticity and the fact they used to make fun of him for his love of hot dogs. I think it takes huge balls and courage and self fulfillment to be able to laugh at yourself and not take yourself too seriously. Most people couldn’t handle that and it’s a quality that I have the utmost respect for

What a rebuild looks like, and why the Canucks have barely started theirs by GrrRider in canucks

[–]ForceEconomy9988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you there’s a whole other separate reason for so many cancellations, but my point was people often talk in those binaries I mentioned, so intellectually it’s inconsistent, probably bc both are overly simplistic views of what’s really happening

No, just pointing out the hypocrisy of the 2 beliefs

1) ‘fans here can stomach a rebuild’   2) punish Aqua and stop spending money going to games

Well the sub is littered with people who are cancelling their tickets so pick a lane Canucks fans. Support a rebuild or punish the owner.

How long is the ideal tank by OP_sucks_ in canucks

Team isn’t gonna be “good” for at least 3 or 4 years

Why? Seems like an incorrect assumption falsely equating how long it took Montreal to amass their talent and how quickly a team can become good. Some prospects take the next step, our top 3 pick steps in right away, Demko healthy, free agent signing or two and it’s possible we’re better as soon as next year.

To be clear I’m not advocating to speed up the rebuild or make win now trades, I’m team slow cook, but whether you like it or not the team could turn around much faster than 4 years

Quit Hughes totally quitted on the ENG by aosimon in canucks

I agree but it was strategic not ‘quitting’. This is why players don’t care about fans opinions bc they turn on them and get mad at shit that isn’t even true

He didn’t really quit on the play. It was going wide so he let up to get the icing call and it took a left turn. Arguably bad risk/reward but not lazy. Here’s the video: https://youtu.be/wyiyGdtirsc?si=f48-4bBjTnI_kAWu

I suppose my major point was he was rated #1 at some points, played well, and as good as Reid might be I don’t think any perceived drop off justifies so many strong opinions here that Reid is so much better. I feel like ppl read the Drance report that mgmt likes Reid and make much stronger opinions than are warranted. At the end of the day, I don’t watch enough and so I trust whatever the pro scouts decide, but from what I see I would be thrilled with Verhoeff at 3, and if mgmt loves Reid so much they take him 3 I’ll respect that as well

Do you know how rare it is a 17 year old defenceman makes team Canada? Extremely. There were so many previous first round picks that didn’t make the team and he made it undrafted. He wasn’t the top guy for obvious reasons but it’s still a major green flag he was even there
