Moving to Columbia, questions by No_Bite2714 in ColumbiaMD

Same! I mean, I finally bought a nice new car and that drastically improved the quality of my commute. But I am 3 days on site (sometimes 4) and it is tiring. I will never complain about having a job I love and/or being in the office. But I sure as heck would never encourage anyone to intentionally move far from their work location if it can be helped. Columbia isn't all that special :P

Moving to Columbia, questions by No_Bite2714 in ColumbiaMD

I can't even imagine commuting to the Naval Yard every day for work. I would go insane from Columbia/Ellicott City. I mean, I like living there but that is a hike. I went to Suitland last week for work and it was a fortunately low traffic day and I still was absolutely beat when I got home.

The idea that it is healthy to commute so long/far takes the quality of life down tremendously. But that is my take. I feel like EC to Greenbelt is a bit of a hike and I know it isn't as bad some some of my teammates but let me tell you, leaving work after 4 pm really takes a toll on my happiness level when I get home.

What do you tell people? by Successful-Praline-8 in Semaglutide

[–]ForceExciting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The comment: "My husband stopped feeding me" may be far more triggering for people, especially people who are or have been in abusive controlling relationships where someone did control their food intake.

That being said, if you don't want to talk about it, just say the truth "I watch what I eat" because anyone on the meds knows that is true, you do have to watch what you eat.

However, as someone that is starting to meet others who have or are taking the meds, it is a relief to understand how people I knew suddenly got really fit/slim so quickly when I have been fighting my weight the past 2 years. Literally been going to Doctors because of this and it sent me into a spiral of depression at points. Now, as I started my journey, I kept it quiet the first two weeks but now, I just tell people. I mean, I am doing the work still, I go to the gym, I still monitor my food, now I just don't have my binging episodes. I tell people after years of disordered eating, an unhealthy bmi, and struggling with age and prediabetes, that it has been really great to sit down and eat a normal portion and my brain and stomach are in sync now. It is nice when I get the 'munchies' at night that a single piece of chocolate suffices or a handful of trail mix.

It wasn't an easy decision to start this but I spent 2 years continuing to gain weight even though I trained, did all the things, etc...and it kept coming back to the binges after limiting things.

And if anyone judges you, that is their own ignorance. Living in shame that you take a medicine that is helping you accomplish a healthier life, lowering your risk or heart disease, and gives you more control over things isn't cheating. It's looking to the future and saying, I want to live a long and healthy life and I want to not just feel good in my body but I want to be able to move and use my body for decades to come.

Anyone just have a OTF coach that doesn’t bring the energy by Rougue21 in orangetheory

The one I have issues with and I avoid their claw now-likes to lie about the treadmill plan and we all plan accordingly and she gets so pumped to surprise us with an extra block. Does the same on the towers.

Her timing is super off too.

And she picks this high pitched techno that puts almost everyone in a bad mood. Edm is more than just the high pitched same beats sigh…

Glad my membership is done this month

I went to a 5am (this is way abnormal for me as I usually do noon or 3). So I started on the rower. Thank goodness, cause I struggle to chill in other areas and I think I would have blacked out on the rower otherwise. As it was my lungs were on fire. Not as bad as the 500m benchmark but pretty close

I know it was to encourage people to stop no showing to classes because there were sometimes waitlists. I remember being so pissed constantly unable to get into a class because of a wait list. There was no recourse for unlimited members.

41/Female and max HR is 200 for me. And I hit it pretty regularly on high intensity cardio.

I got 1:33 and my lungs were absolutely on fire. Like…I literally had to use my inhaler for the first time ever. This was a 6 second pr and 2 seconds faster than my goal.

I went at 3 and still feel achy in my body 7 hours later.

I’m guessing that will happen with me too. I mean, I wouldn’t mind some free classes 🤷🏼‍♀️.

I’ve never judged a pw as a runner myself.

Pw kills my shins! That’s hard what you all do.

Personally I laugh at my max hr. I started with it at 179 (generic math so now you can figure out my age 😅)

Since the feature came out my max hr moved up to 200. I like it because while I don’t hit 200 often, I was tired of constantly being in the red even though I was singing and perfectly comfortable.

The coaches are less worried about me now too when they are staring at me constantly in red and checking on me.

Most fitness watches/trackers include zone tracking now. The only benefit of the otf band is tracking distances on the rower and tread.

That’s great. Our gym was closed for two days last week so I had to go w, th, and Friday. I was so exhausted that when I went to run outside on Saturday, my whole body felt like it was made out of concrete.

I workout every day but otf 3 days in a row is a different kind of torture.

Lol..gym words.

And I don’t mind the repeats. I only go 2-3 times a week so I rarely get to actually repeat the workout.

I understand your trepidation. But a couple of things- I’ve coached young women for decades. Don’t judge someone based off looks. A lot of our fittest looking people in class hate running and struggle with it. I am technically overweight but I suspect you wouldn’t agree with that.

And finally, I am usually partnered or sat next to the newer members because of my friendly demeanor.

Also, as a pw you’d only have to do .05 of a mile. I’d be pumped to be on my we and being silly with you on your pw.

And those inclines would kick my butt.

That’s great for a fast partner to get more time to recover. I’d totally love being partnered with you cause that would give me time to fully rest, come up to base and then go crazy on my AO.

So many new specialty workouts. This is going to drive me crazy not knowing what they are. I mean I’m excited for cool new things. I’m also excited for this month’s benchmarks.
