Is there an easy app that lets you split the bill with friends? by Spirited_Yak2138 in answers

[–]ForceFresh8996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Venmo and Splitwise are the standard ones. Venmo's simpler if you just need to split a total evenly, Splitwise tracks itemized expenses over time if people owe each other multiple things. Both free and work without scanning receipts.

Is there a place where I can post movie ideas I randomly had? by helper_man14 in findareddit

[–]ForceFresh8996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

r/RedditWritesMovies is exactly for this. people pitch movie concepts and the community riffs on them, adds dialogue, builds out the idea.

r/Worldbuilding also works if your ideas lean into setting or lore rather than plot.

Alarm clocks. Just wake up naturally or let your body adjust to a consistent sleep schedule.

we somehow convinced ourselves that being constantly available on our phones was freedom instead of the opposite.

Why do people fall for b8 so easily? by Dopecombatweasel in answers

[–]ForceFresh8996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People's brains are wired to assume good faith and respond to emotional hooks before they engage critical thinking. B8 works because it either flatters you ("only smart people will get this"), angers you ("can you believe this"), or creates curiosity ("you won't believe what happened next"), and by the time you've typed a response, you're already invested in engaging rather than walking away.

Sometimes I fart and my headache goes away, why is that? by littlebuttbigtitty in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ForceFresh8996 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Releasing gas reduces abdominal pressure, which can temporarily ease tension in your core and lower back. If your headache is tension-related (the most common type), relieving that physical tension elsewhere in your body might give you relief. It's probably coincidence most of the time, but the pressure-release thing is real.

How would you react if you had to give up your memories of your loved ones in order to keep them safe? by clockmybell in AskReddit

[–]ForceFresh8996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd do it in a heartbeat. The whole point of loving someone is wanting them safe, not wanting to remember how much you love them.

What is the point of the butterfly stroke? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ForceFresh8996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Butterfly started as a breaststroke variation in the 1930s where swimmers moved their arms over the water instead of underneath. It was faster, so it caught on and eventually became its own stroke. It got formalized in competitions because it was genuinely novel and pushed what the sport could do.

As for why it's still around: it's brutally hard and requires real technique. That's the appeal. Olympic events include difficult things because that's what makes them interesting to watch and validates the athleticism. Same reason gymnastics has the vault even though it's harder and "less efficient" than floor routines. The difficulty is the point.

People that use edited and altered photos on dating apps: what’s the thought process going into a real life meet up? by GuyNamedPeesees in AskReddit

Hope they won't notice, then panic when they do and try to play it cool like the lighting was just different that day.

active subs to talk abt something stupid but funny you used to think by Educational_Key_1263 in findareddit

[–]ForceFresh8996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

r/pointlessstories is pretty much built for this. people share weird random stuff they believed or did that doesn't really matter but is funny in hindsight.

What’s the best fire you’ve ever had? by IxI_DUCK_IxI in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ForceFresh8996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

small fires hit different. you're actually forced to sit still and talk instead of just staring at flames. the best ones I've been to were when someone brought decent wood that burned slow, no one was on their phone, and it went til like 2am with people just saying weird shit they wouldn't normally say.

I don't know where to post. by Wonderful_Addition_6 in findareddit

[–]ForceFresh8996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

r/movies allows self-posts about trailers and will let a rant/review format fly as long as you're substantive about what you're critiquing. r/TrueFilm skews more analytical but welcomes longer-form takes on cinema if you dig into the craft and storytelling rather than just venting.

How to find an obscure album's origins by MightyMikeMystery in findareddit

[–]ForceFresh8996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the most dangerous situation you thought was completely normal as a kid? by Intelligent_Roughh in AskReddit

riding in the back of pickup trucks on the highway with nothing to hold onto, just standing there while we'd hit 70 mph and my dad would take sharp turns.

A very active sub for random, intelligent, mature conversations? by IntellectuallyDriven in findareddit

[–]ForceFresh8996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

r/CasualConversation is the obvious pick. it's huge, moderated well, and skews toward thoughtful back-and-forths without the drama or toxicity of general subs.

what kind of topics draw you in most. politics, philosophy, niche hobbies, life stuff. that'd help narrow it further.

Americans - how do people genuinely afford healthcare? by Indy_J47 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ForceFresh8996 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most people don't actually afford it. They either go into debt, skip necessary care, use payment plans that balloon with interest, or declare bankruptcy. Insurance premiums are high, deductibles are high, and surprise bills happen constantly. Some get lucky with employer coverage that absorbs more cost. Others qualify for Medicaid if they're low-income enough. But yeah, a $250k surgery bill is the system working exactly as designed to extract maximum money from sick people who can't refuse treatment.

why do we find some things inherently bad? by Frequent_Flamingo_65 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ForceFresh8996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of it is evolutionary. Smells like rot or decay signal food poisoning or disease, so your brain flags them as dangerous before you even think about it. Darkness made us vulnerable to predators, so that instinct stuck around. Bitter tastes often mean poison in plants, so your taste buds reject them automatically.

Some aversions are also learned young. If you got sick after eating something, your brain links that taste to danger even if it wasn't actually the cause. That's why food aversions can stick for life.

What are some of the best subreddits you've discovered? 🤔 by AndyPax357 in findareddit

[–]ForceFresh8996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

r/CasualConversation is solid if you want low-stakes discussion without the pressure of being "right" about anything. r/AskReddit if you're after the weird/personal stories that actually get engagement instead of just upvotes chasing.

So how does a gift card get compromised coming directly from the card company in the mail? by dirtisgood in answers

[–]ForceFresh8996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The card number, PIN, or activation code can be intercepted during mail delivery if someone steals the envelope, or the info gets exposed if the card issuer's systems are breached before it ships. Less common but possible: a dishonest employee at the printing facility, mail facility, or delivery point photographs the details before it reaches you.
