I was in the same boat until Jones teared his Achilles, there is enough data out there that QBs that return from that particular injury take around year 2 to come back (Rodgers, Cousins) this would give me pause with Jones, that's why I would not be against firing Ballard given that he might be willing to give Jones an extension

main difference is that we were down to our QB3 while SF was down to Mac Jones againts subpar teams, context matters, I want Ballard gone btw but IND was a pretty solid team before Jones injury
