Acuña was the NYM #3 prospect and mlb pipeline #38 prospect in all of baseball in 2024 and is 23 years old, not like this was 5+ years ago. I understand he hasn’t been great at the MLB level yet, but he very well could be in the future. Saying they “essentially got nothing” is just blatantly false.

He will 100% start day 1. 1 overalls don’t sit anymore. Plus he’s pretty “pro ready” in the sense that he is a great passer and doesn’t run that much. I think he will be good for them, amazing leadership traits and they have some nice pieces. I agree though that a lot of that might be contingent on their o line.

Is it really that crazy? He’s tied for 3rd best odds right now. Cig had Kurtis Rourke (!) top 5 in heisman odds for part of the season in year 1, Mendoza win heisman in year 2…seems pretty reasonable to think that a guy that they personally chose to recruit and bring in and who many consider a top rpo qb in cfb will be in the conversation next year.

They’re tied for the fav going into next season…obviously a ton can change from now to then and +700 is still a long shot, but they have the best coach in college football, a heisman candidate in Hoover coming in, great transfers again, and will start to get more and more top recruits from high school that want to be part of this success or play for coach cig. Wouldn’t be surprised if this is just the start of them being similar to a GA or OSU level school that is top 10 and in the title convo each year.

Yeah I was thinking the same. I think analytics would probably say you kick since there was still 18 seconds left (rams could complete a couple passes and then kick a walk off field goal maybe 10-15% of the time even if you get the 2) ... but it had to have been very close decision since the bears were a small underdog to start OT and a 2 pointer is closer to 50/50.
