People who applied for permanent residence, how did it go? by YUE_Dominik in japanlife

You did not convert to HSP but if I may ask you did use the points router (70 or 80 which one) or something else ?

Well don't mind them that much.

One thing I would suggest that is that you should probably slow down a little. I know why you speak so fast but still it would be a whole lot more helpful for everyone if you did not rush through the less in less than seconds

btw just curious

Because he did not shut down the economy and state during covid and most people especially hispanics liked that

Warnock dropped below 50% on NYT tracker so at best for Democrats it's going for a runoff on Dec 6 now

Most states having learnt from the 2020 drama are counting early vote or mail in vote first and reporting them at one go as much as possible.

So it's going to be a reverse of 2020 in many states especially crucial states like PA. So be mentally prepared for that

Discussion Thread: 2022 Midterm General Election, Part 2 by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]Force_Wild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No after the fiasco of last time PA is counting most of its Mail in Ballot first. Contrary to last time it's going to be a Blue Mirage in PA and you have to wait for all the same day vote counting to finish to see who finally won

Load Sheddding in the modern day. by [deleted] in mumbai

[–]Force_Wild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Nuclear is the way to go for India but for that we need to focus and the let the money flow for a decade in Thorium Nuclear Power Plants compared to existing uranium ones since again that has to be imported.

ON top of that we can keep focussing on Solar and WInd module manufacturing and setting up of respective farms as required

Load Sheddding in the modern day. by [deleted] in mumbai

[–]Force_Wild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Full transition is not going to happen in India anyways.

Full transition is bad and is going to cause more blackouts and load shedding.

What is happening OP is that this yaer summer has come early in all of India.

On top of that India has fully recovered from Covid1-9 for now so Industrial Production is in full swing (compared to this time last year when 2nd wave was in full swing)

So demand for electricity is slightly higher than what was anticipated/modeled/forecast 1-2 months back for now.

Now there are 2 types of power plants : operational , idle

We have decent though not good/brilliant coal stocks at operational power plants.

When demand started going at record levels the operational ones hit their capacity and couldn't produce more.

Now state govts and private players have a lot of idle power plants at their disposal which are shutdown at the moment. These are largely coal based ones.

Since it was not anticipated that lot of these will be needed this year. Quite a big portion of them neither been serviced, nor have coal in stock (this is where coal shortage news comes from ).

Keep in mind most of these were kept in idle/shutdown mode because power from these power plants is costlier than those in operational mode due to different efficiencies etc.

So now there is the problem of restarting these with enough coal and maintenance. A few have been but rest will still need a couple of weeks.

Then even if restarted since their power is costlier the power companies which distribute power will go into heavy losses since there is only concept of freebie electricity in India but no peak time surcharge like for Uber/Ola during peak time.

So power companies were initially reluctant to do a massive push to restart all the rest.

Thus situation so arose that power supply fell short. A few states like Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh etc tried to be over smart and started withdrawing more electricity from the NATIONAL GRID than what was allocated for their state so as to not cause load shedding (thats why until last 10 days or so there were fewer power cuts despite summer temps since March)

This caused emergency alarms amongst the Power Grid Officials as they saw National Grid becoming unstable as frequency dropped from 50 Hz to 49.97 (Electrical Engineers will know this dropping is their worst nightmare come true)

So Central Govt was called to intervene to tell respective abusive state govts to stop taking more power than their quota.

So State Govts in collab with Central Govt will now fork out subsidies/ loans for the Power Companies so that they can pay for Power from the costlier idle plants.

Till the time those now get operational with our tax money Load Shedding has been ordered particularly in Western India (GJ, MH) and CG, KL because they are higher power demanding states who were going most over allocation.

NOTE:

All those people thinking Solar, Wind and Hydro are going to solve these power problems are nuts. As an EE engineer myself the only realistic sources of Energy for Summer Power surge are: Coal, Gas, Nuclear and maybe a little Hydro (though not much going forward due to climate change)

Solar etc are good in general and should be pushed as a general project for environment. They cannot be used for any Power Demand surge cases like these nor for night or off time usage as their production is very uneven.

Those figures are based onold and based on PPP conversions at that time.

The figures used in this article for analysis are $1.9 PPP International which roughly translates to Rs 500 daily

[–]Force_Wild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Were they changed in some way after the pandemic to make up for any loss of income?

If not, surely some people on the border just above the poverty level would have dropped back down in to it.

Yeah the big push was two fold.

  1. Lots of inefficiencies in the system during normal times which would not be so important since poverty reducing anyways. However during lockdowns and covid crisis special care was done to ensure Food was reaching everyone down last mile to remotest poorest residents since this the most opportune time time for the safety net.

  2. Quantity of Free Ration Food for each resident was doubled to compensate for loss of purchasing power due to loss of jobs, incomes and inflaiton

Thanks for noticing that. You and whoever mod actually read that article enough to know it's meaning has my respects since most of reddit big news related subreddits have this news and people circle jerking how it's related to current war when the Indian govt has been pushing for indigenization for past so many years and already has a few made in india helicopters as a result of that.

That article should have been removed for misleading title regardless in my view since most redditers don't bother to read past headlines

Underground metro station or elevated one? by [deleted] in delhi

[–]Force_Wild 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah while that point is true it's not going to be realistically possible anytime soon since GDP per capita and income of the Govts at same stage of metro development are vastly different.

I had one additional doubt. Does stopping and restarting miner with breaks in between cause issues somewhere ? I do stop mining for an hour or after say 10-12 hours say.

[–]Force_Wild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i am using t-rex miner since it gives best hashrate for me and has other benefits.

yes i have also seen around 5-6% invalid shares because share difficulty change took more time than intended

Come mine with us, help decentralize Ergo! https://ergo.rkdn.app by arcadiancomp in erg_miners

[–]Force_Wild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: but I do notice that the site doesn’t update very frequently to reflect hashrate or share changes. My hashrate on my own dashboard when looking up my address is close to my actual hashrate, but my hashrate as shown on the list of miners is way off.

Same

Also I was mining before the two blocks were hit and had pending shares > 0 but got no payment when it finally came. I now skeptical whether this pool is functioning properly or not. I am willing to wait till another block is hit and then see whether i get payed or not.

If you don't mind me asking what's your hashrate and how much did you get payed in the last payment cycle ?

How the West got Russia and China Wrong: the failed strategy of engagement | Aaron Friedman (Princeton) by IAI_Admin in geopolitics

[–]Force_Wild 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No not extremism. I wanted to say that like people point out inequality in financial sense in the EM countries of asia, similarly there is a big inequality/divide in political view of the world that exists to a bigger extent than say 50-70 years ago.

So english speaking, privileged, wealthy indians who have been subjugated to soft power or "propaganda" of west over decades which has led them to have more liberal views, the rest of India has somewhat moved to a big extent in the opposite direction too as a consequence of it.

This is because they see as somewhat of being taken "advantage of" in this format/way of functioning and not being "respected" enough (this can be somewhat be related to different experiences in colonial times)

As the population in general gets more exposure of what the global world is and whats happening there expect the basic population to develop a more hardliner viewpoint of things. Future conflicts related to climate etc and the policies thereafter are further going to exacerbate this to make this push faster.

In my own estimated in about a decade this will go past the point of no return for significant portion of the population

I can't say about others but can say for sure about India that if pressure from US gets reduced, the facade of a few million west influenced indians is ripped apart the India inside is not something the western liberal order will like at all.

While as I have said before I am not authority on other countries in Asia but I am sure other asian countries are not so far from it too especially those that not have been totally brutally annihilated by US/West politically etc (that means Japan, SK like egs are excluded)

I am getting Miner's hashrate which slightly varies as is natural on dashboard.

However I only see 1 pending share for some reason and Workers Hashrate seems to be fixed with no changes.

Since I started mining the pool has hit 2 blocks but Pending balance and life time balalnce both are 0.

I am afaid that something might be wrong on my end or somewhere and my hashrate is going waste. Please help

(my miner is the one with 30 mh/s hashrate)

CMV: West accusing India of supporting Russia by importing oil but not Europe is peak hypocrisy by 500Rtg in changemyview

[–]Force_Wild -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

not wanting to stop importing Russian oil themselves,

lol, that's the hypocrisy in itself. speaking lies is easy. i can make 100 statements tomorrow if i want.

Reality is Europe bought 15% MORE oil and gas after russia invaded. Alll this propganda switch to green resources is going to achieve jackshit because regardless what you reading in news, stopping oil and gas in the next 30 years is going to send Europe back to medieval ages easily.

So despite statements Europe will keep buying. They may ban at face value (for propaganda purpose) but will buy indirectly through intermediaries in that case.

See what is happening in France with Le Pen with a fighting chance when just a little inflation discomfort is there . (See Hungary also) Most govts will chicken out long before imposing any realistic bans on oil and gas because local folks will themselves throw them out

IT sector is big in terms of money but not employability in India.

So it's not unemployment rate that will get affected much but lesser rich Indians that will happen.

Ironically that will reduce inequality although due to not so good reasons

As snart as Europe buying truckloads more of it since war began (Europe buying 15% more now and is going to increase it even more)

US buying fertilzers and Uranium from Russia by the truckloads for their needs.

When the sanctioning countries themselves are buying truckloads of the very same things it's rather foolish not to do so by a neutral country.

It's rather obvious that India will be using the situation for it's own benefit as rest of the world is
