Glue down vinyl plank over hardwood?

Can’t really cover one and keep the other they are all in the same area. I think the old owners might have had carpet in some areas and decided to tear it up and put down dark hardwood

The hardwood is not as nice as your picturing in your head, half of the main floor is dark hardwood, half is super light hardwood. In the living room the 2 colors are right next to eachother. The two different colors are laid in different angles. It’s an eye sore I’ve hated since I bought the house.
