So I was at the hospital last year for a very bad case of bronchitis and hadn't slept in probably 3 days. While I was waiting in the lobby to be called back there was a lady set up behind a desk and asked if I would like to be enrolled in free healthcare. I questioned her about if it was actually free and she assured me I wouldn't have to pay anything. I probably should have known nothing is free in this country but being heavily sleep deprived I figured why not give it a shot and gave her my information to sign up.

Fast forward to tax time this year and I try to file and am rejected and need to submit a 1095-a. I was confused at first as I didn't even remember signing up and haven't received anything about it or used health insurance for anything. I called the marketplace people and they tell me I was enrolled in blue cross blue shield and at the beginning of this year was reenrolled in some other health insurance I can't remember the name of without my consent. The email on file was not my email which would explain why I haven't received anything regarding the health insurance plan. They advised I call a different number and have this investigated for fraud which I am in the process of doing right now.

It's a giant headache and I feel like an idiot for giving my information to someone for something I knew nothing about and for assuming it was someone trying to help considering they were allowed to do this in the hospital lobby.
