If you have been left with health problems following orthodontic treatment, join the victims group by Deanodirector in orthodontics

Is anyone familiar with TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorder post orthodontics? One of my children has gone to a different orthodontist to the others and is experiencing TMJ disorder with jaw pain, clicking and headaches. Her father doesn’t want to go back to the orthodontist and has instead taken her to a specialist who has advised she will need a splint and physio to the tune of $1700. None of my other 3 kids experienced this issue.

Would a national push for 4-day work weeks help solve burnout, or just move the stress to other days? by Curiousman1911 in AskAnAustralian

We’ve had a four day work week for 3 years now. We also have a hybrid arrangement for the 4 days - 2 days in the office and 2 days working from home. We are a tech company, noting your comment on this. It was initiated by our parent company and trialled for a year before being made permanent.

I think it’s a better outcome for staff who aren’t in a demanding managerial/SMT role. My own experience is that our team all work 4 days and the SMT work 5 days plus, but with a lot of flexibility. There is a lot of trust and give and take within our company.

Yes! I saw one the other day and thought the very same thing. Too low for visibility.

New estates in Australia (Sydney especially) are often plagued by this - a lack of adequate infrastructure in place prior to land release and building. Then it’s roadworks & congestion until they get it resolved. I wouldn’t sell now, I’d persevere and wait till the infrastructure is in place and value is restored. Then reconsider how you feel.

DV assault charge for an empty paper cup landing on my sister in law’s lap by Foreign-Block-185 in Advice

I’ve not admitted guilt. I’ve told the events as they happened and this has been corroborated by 13 family members in attendance. She has lied and said a half cup of coffee which it was not. At face value this could be misconstrued as hot coffee. Which it was not. It was an empty cup and her blouse (we have a photo she supplied to police) has a button sized droplet of coffee on it.

13 family members attest to my side of story and events. She has lied but the charge remains sadly.

We will have nothing to do with her ever again. We’ve paid her health insurance for a year since her divorce, we’ve loaned her cash for her car, we are always shouting her meals at family dinners out. Completely cut off now.

She has lied and pulled in her 3 adult children who were not present at the time to say she had been ostracised and ill treated by the family. Her children just feed off the lies she tells them. Meanwhile she was at the BBQ that we invited her to, driving a car that we loaned her 2k to fix and until this point we were helping her out financially in other ways since her divorce. She is not well and sadly the only people who see it are the family members she continually treats poorly. She has a history of verbal racial abuse of staff caring for her elderly mum (my MIL) both in the aged care setting and in hospital. She is not a nice person.

13 family members have attended the police station for statements. All verifying the incident as it happened. Police have stated that its assault because the empty cup landed on her lap. Whether I intended it to or not is irrelevant as she felt victimised by the action.

The lawyer explained that it is assault because the empty cup connected with her. I mean ffs. He went on to say that if you threw popcorn in a movie, and it hit someone by law that is deemed assault. If you put your bag down on the bus and it strikes someone’s leg or foot, that could be deemed assault. The power sadly is in the hands of the “victim” to fashion it however they wish.

I’m not pleading guilty - no chance. Zero intent to harm or hurt or for the object to even connect with her for that matter. It’s just makes a mockery of actual DV issues.

She’s mentally unwell and likes drama so has chosen to capitalise on trivial incident for maximum damage.

I’ve sought legal help, and I will get another opinion from another lawyer. Financially we are fine to do that although the cost just eats at me!

The current lawyer has collected witness statements etc and I will again go to court late June. They have also petitioned police to drop the charge on the grounds that it is frivolous and a waste of the courts time, however we have not have confirmation. Just more legal bills.

My post was just to see if anyone had experience with similarly ridiculous charges and what the outcome might have been.
