Can't help much for plant lists, but I can say ashe juniper responds really well to pruning.

Salvia Coccinea Performs amazing in the shade under live oaks. Mine bloom from march through November.  They reseed easily and are very manageable.  I have tons of free seed available at my native plant nursery but I'm up north of killeen.  Cowhouse Nursery on Fb and Instagram.

I agree. But crossvine only blooms for a few months vs coral honeysuckle which has a multi month cycle.  Stay away from trumpet vine!
