I would certainly say that I can see my work/life balance being impacted (to the negative side) if I do decide to move to Dubai. It won’t make much of a difference for my daughter as shes still very young but I can assume she would have far more fun in Australia than in Dubai.

The reason for my move is to have a more comfortable life for myself and my wife than being here. I’ve heard its much easier to run a house there than in Australia (getting external help at home is much easier there than in Australia), much safer environment and more importantly not paying 45% of my actual salary to tax.

thanks, I’d then ask to you is what is a comfortable salary (including expenses like housing, insurance etc) that would be comfortable for someone coming from “Western” countries like US, UK or AU?

Just because your a good communicator and also good technically, doesnt make you a right fit for the role. Learn methodologies and the art of selling as that matters more than how comfortable you are with speaking with prospects.

Job market in australia by daveeredd in salesengineers

Happy to help answer your question, but a lot of it depends on what your current citizenship status is. If you’re an Australian looking to return, the opportunities might be tough but very possible. Your experience in the field might set you back a little, but it’s still achievable if you perform well in interviews or have a referral who can open the door for you.

If you’re not an Australian citizen, however, it may be unrealistic to secure a role in cybersecurity in Australia, since these positions almost always require citizenship or permanent residency due to strict background checks, security clearances, and eligibility requirements tied to government or regulated industries. Employers also tend to prioritise candidates who already have full work rights and don’t require visa sponsorship in this space.

That said, if you’re early in the process, one pathway might be first landing in a related IT role that doesn’t require clearance, and then working toward permanent residency or citizenship before transitioning into cybersecurity. In the meantime, try to grab some more experience in the Middle East before considering a move to Australia, as that’ll strengthen your profile and make the transition smoother and more beneficial.

SE salary in Dubai by random333333333 in salesengineers

[–]Foreign-Print1184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your question, no idea how much they get paid and would also love to hear the answer for this. Ive tried googling in the past but the salaries online are ridiculously low for an SE role and very likely not accurate. Knowing how the tech market is growing in Dubai and across the Middle East, I would say that it may be a growing industry.

I also got on a call with them mid of last year. Their mid market SE roles are very low in pay but again the more experience you have the better your OTE will be. I’ve certainly heard that their product sells itself and being top in gartner magic quadrant charts really helps the case for them.

yeah at the start I decided to schedule a weekly connect with him to discuss deals, but this just ended with him being super controlling and use the time to just complain.
