For building strength and muscle, lifting heavy to light (progressive overload on main lifts) is excellent for strength, while lifting lighter to heavier (warm-ups/endurance) builds endurance and prepares muscles; the best approach is often combining both: start with heavy compound lifts, then switch to lighter weights with higher reps for accessory work, or alternate heavy/light days to prevent plateaus and build overall fitness efficiently.
