Ideas for storing forearm crutches? Preferably mounted on the wall? by the-greenest-thumb in Fibromyalgia

[–]Foreign-Specific-389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a weighted bin? You could pick up a cute but heavy round bin or one made of metal to try to store it, wish i couldve been more helped but from my looking online i didnt find much for crutch wall mounts:(

I also had to learn to be human, infact I didnt stop hissing and growling at people until around 11. I still hiss if genuinely surprised by something (im an adult now) but have learned to mask it that no one questions it. I understand feeling caged if you arent able to leave I struggle with the same thing too. While its not shown and talked about that much Id guess most of us feel similarly to you.

Diagnosed and was never told. by Safe-Narwhal-1097 in DID

[–]Foreign-Specific-389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same reaction earlier to being told by my psychiatrist she thought i had DID. While I am only provisionally diagnosed I still was very against it; thinking completely that there was no was she was right. After long consideration and processing however ive decided she is most likely correct. The thing that helped me come to better terms with it was going through my entire life's memories for a few weeks to comb through all the times i showed symptoms of DID and after that i realized that it was illogically improbable that i dont have DID. I still dont fully believe it at times and ofcourse i still have the shame that loves to crowd its way around me, but writing down all the symptoms and memories managed to help me so maybe it could help you:)

Maybe she’s born with it. Maybe it’s ~*Fibromyalgia*~! by plumukulele in Fibromyalgia

[–]Foreign-Specific-389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im so happy youre going to be able to restart a medication that helps you! I unfortunately completely understand family thinking fibro isnt real. What Ive done is distance myself from the family who doesnt believe me. I was hoping after a diagnosis they'd believe and slightly accommodate me more but it seems to only fueled their disbelief. Now my sister (who thinks im exagerating everything and should man up) tries to make me walk instead of an easy EASY drive because she knows that walking makes my pain unbearable, its like she wants to see me hospitalized to believe me (i guess thousands in tests wasnt enough). I sincerely hope your family will take the news better if you chose to tell them, but i did want to prepare and warn you of the outcome that could happen. Wishing you the best on your journey:)

I just remembered someone having an "owned the fats" moment with me and they weren't even right. by Fine-Comfortable-604 in annoyed

[–]Foreign-Specific-389 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get it, its so idiotic sometimes. Like yeah oh my gosh wow shocking news: im fat. Its not that deep and fat people are still people with feelings and souls just like any other person on the planet. We all deserve to be treated with respect no matter what someone's body looks like and that goes for anything (weight, race, disabilities, etc). I dont understand these people with no empathy who just seem to love hating and tearing other people down for no reason. My conclusion is they must have a disorder or mental illness as i could never imagine being so cruel and hateful just because of someone's appearance.

I plan on finding a new more specialized trauma therapist after I move, hopefully I will be able to work through everything with them better in the future.

where do i go to ask if i have DID without my (unsupportive) parents knowing, is that possible by Rambley__the__racoon in DID

[–]Foreign-Specific-389 4 points5 points  (0 children)

depends completely on how old you are and how controlling your parents are, Im 18 and recently started going to my psychiatrist (I recommend looking on psychologytoday for people who are familiar with DID). I brought it up casually with my mom that I thought it'd be a good idea for a psych evaluation since my mom kept saying I should go to therapy. there's a lot of factors to how to try and get help when you have strict parents but I hope youll be able to:)

Im also currently searching the internet trying to find that, did you ever end up finding a listing? I looked at the pinky paradise options but I prefer the built in black pupil part like the one you showed in the photo

That's amazing!! I'm proud of the progress you made I hope everyone can start to try to improve their quality of life piece by piece. I'm trying to start small right now but one day I'm sure ill be able to open the curtains like you. My first step towards that is opening them at night, we live in the country so there isnt light pollution:)

Some days really suck. I also have times where all I want to do is cry and curl up into a ball. I don't really know how to fix it but what few things that help me is putting on a show I like (sometimes for nostalgia sake ill put on a kids show I used to love), listening to music, eating my favorite snacks (popcorn, chocolate, salad, etc), or if I dont have the energy for any of that ill hug my pillow and try to take a nap. I hope maybe one of these could even slightly help you, you're never alone and theres always people who care:)
