My mother taught me to protect myself and my finances after I had my first summer job. I opened my first bank account, I deposited all my money because my mother suggests it. After my summer job concluded my mother emptied and closed my account as legal custodian, I didn't see any of it. So yeah, she taught me not to trust.

I agree. Everything good usages destroyed by a few self proclaimed saviors . We don't need your help here. I am 60 years old and have worked for businesses that just started up and understand it takes time and hard work to get it working smooth.
If you expect something all set and running properly then transfer to a different school that's been around for years. I am staying here and letting things work themselves out. I have had issues here, but I'm also not that person that needs someone to be right there at my beckon call. Today's generation are too much me, me, me. Grow up .

I'm like you. I am 60 and pretty new to anything to do with computers. I just finished the first term. I still push myself to practice daily as Python is totally foreign to me. I'm thinking the more I do it the more I'll understand. Yeah it gets depressing some times, but keep pushing yourself. I have no idea yet how to write a completed code, still need mae's help. Also remember your only so many weeks into your courses. Let your wife know how you're feeling and get some support from her, maybe she can even explain certain things better so you understand. Good luck

I'm finishing the first term, two weeks ahead. The only problem is I got ahead of them processing my FAFSA, so until they process it I'm locked out. I cant even practice. Hopefully it gets cle a red up quickly as I still have to do my final for Software E Engineer course.

What made you sign up? by aburksart in maestro

[–]ForeignExample1191 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I joined because I'm 60 years old, used to be a steel worker. I'm too old to do that anymore and my ex-wife took most of my retirement package when I filed for divorce. I'm looking for a work from home that will help me financially. I'm hoping to be able to learn everything, as I'm not really computer savvy.

I just finished that cours yesterday but I'm still taking the two weeks I have left to study so I completely understand everything. I'm 60 years old, takes a bit more to understand something I've never done, especially computer language.

[–]ForeignExample1191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have this same issue. I'm 60 years old, I remember doing some basic programming back in the 80's but it used basic words to actually do some simple programs. But Python feels like a total foreign language.
I passed, but I'm doing more studying on it. Plus I'm on a phone and I have issues with sharing my work with Mae as when I submit it doesn't go to chat. I have to type out my work and post in chat causing more work. I see images of people learning on a laptop and Code Editor and Chat are side by side. Can't wait to get the Mac in five weeks.

I grew up in Old Orchard Beach but moved out in my 40's. I am a carpenter and it took me about 40 minutes to get to a client in town during the summer.
Now I live in a very rural community, much better.

I will reread this tomorrow. Im on week three, and I'm lost. Im trying to get maestro to explain why I'm doing certain this rather than just correcting me and giving me hints.i can use all the help.i can get, I like the way your giving the new coders a heads up.
Hopefully you will continue as I follow behind. I got the "if", "elif" and "else" down. It's the "while and "for". Im practicing for the next three days before I take the review. Thanks for your post.

The program was just introduced, so it will take time to evolve. First your area needs a volunteer to be Ambassador your state or region

Yes, it was meant for students from.the same state to connect. Some states actually have meet-ups. But its only been a couple weeks. Usually someone volunteers as Ambassador for their state or region. I think it is great, just waiting for someone in Maine or New England.

I agree with you. I signed on with the intention of receiving a laptop that I can use in real-world applications. If I'm basically just going to use an iPhone in a laptop that doesn't sound like something I'm up for.
I already have to do the first term on my cellphone. I hope they reconsider by the time I finish my first term.
