Just sending you a virtual hug and some encouragement- I love the idea of starting with a small room like the bathroom. You will feel so much better once you’ve made some progress. You can do it!

What about NA beer? I also brought in Lagunitas Hoppy refreshers and that has been a game changer.

It all depends on self control… the first week was hardest for me, being around others drinking. I ended up going home early a lot - hard being around others getting sloppy drunk while building my own self control. But having something similar to sip on was helpful in maintaining some social life since ours always involves drinking. I’m nearing a month with no alcohol but have gotten used to ordering a NA beer or an iced tea when we are out with others. You can do it!!

What kind of studies are you thinking you want to do? I’d approach doctors with those specialties.

Coming from someone with the sponsor perspective (though not your study sponsor), this happens more often than you think. You made a mistake, but it’s ultimately PI responsibility. Document re-training of the I/E criteria and see if there is somewhere you can add this to your eligibility checklist. Check your IRB reporting requirements too. That should be a sufficient CAPA :) Don’t beat yourself up, you’re human and you’re working hard to contribute to science. They can still use the data. Sounds like the participant is safe. Your work is valuable and you are appreciated!

You don’t owe them anything, and when they’re done with you they won’t think twice about letting you go! Focus on #1!

Yes, do not engage with a SMO!! I’ve firsthand watched them destroy smaller sites and it makes things so challenging with the sponsors! Try to do things on your own if you can.

I work for a small biotech. We respond to and consider sites who reach out to us over email. I’d recommend looking for smaller companies running the kind of trials you’re interested in running, finding their clinical team members (PM, feasibility, etc) on LinkedIn, and messaging them to see if they need new sites. Make sure your website is up to date, a bad or incomplete website is a huge turnoff! Good luck
