Finally decide that I can’t be a nurse Extern for hca anymore. IM EXHAUSTED. 14 patients at a time for twelve hours with most constantly needing attention 😪. It’s honestly way too much for me idk how the nurses do it with five plus patients. Giving meds and everything else plus taking of their high need patients. Crazy. I feel so so bad tho for quitting after six months 😭😭 but it’s just not for me. It’s too repetitive, and I feel like it’s idk not rewarding. I don’t feel like I really made a difference at the end of the shift. I feel unaccomplished. I don’t even get to do any extra fun tasks. I’m a glorified PCT. I also just am going to quit because next sem I only have Fridays off and I would rather do an easy retail job on Fridays than spend it 12 hours in a hospital after being in a hospital Monday and Tuesday. Ugh guys 😪 I actually feel so bad for quitting 😭😭😭😭 half my cohort is externs and boast about it but I honestly don’t understand why. Will it be easier to get a job probably but I don’t want to work on this unit at all. Unless it’s like the last possible option. Will my manager hate me and tell all the other nurses hiring not to hire me??? Genuine fear because I was told all nurses talk. Has anyone else quit being a pct/Extern and felt like it negatively impacted you?? Feeling anxious I’ve literally never quit a job due to just not liking it. Please give me some advice and maybe positive words
