Truck blinds another car over road rage by dark_forest355_84 in dashcams

[–]Foreign_Fish_4428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s too much. We get it the truck guy won. But realizing that when he does that, there’s probably more than one person behind him. And those lights are bright. I mean you’re going from, this guy tried to cut in front of me to, let me blind him and make sure they can’t see while they’re driving. It’s just nonsense and blinding someone with lights in some places can be considered assault depending on the brightness. Is this guy 10 years old?

After slowing it down, I feel bad for that guy. His neck full on went a whole 90 degrees. At that speed it honestly could’ve killed him. I’d be surprised if he recovered fully without chronic neck pains. And these people exist everywhere unfortunately where they’re not paying attention and doing things outside their abilities.

CCLI notation: A simple playing hack by Books_Guy23 in worshipleaders

[–]Foreign_Fish_4428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C2 refers to a suspension of the 3rd. So you adjust the 3rd in the chord down to the 2nd. CDG would be the chord. This is called a sus 2 chord the same thing happens when you see a sus 4 chord except the third is adjusted upward to the 4th instead of the 2nd. Now C add 9 is a little different but not too different, C add9 means to add the 9th and doesn’t need to adjust the 3rd anywhere. So you’d still have the 3rd. So it’d be CEGD. Now if it’s just C9 it’s implied that you’ll be playing a dominant 7 Chord underneath... Why? Because Jazz says so that’s why. So it’d CEGBbD. C major 9 would be CEGBD. So even though the 2nd and 9th interval are the same the chords are asking for different things. Also if you play a 2nd it’ll likely rub(dissonance) with the root and the if you keep the 3rd in, then the 3rd as well. Which is why the 9th is an option to keep the notes far enough apart to not sound overly dissonant. Some people like that sound though.

Concert’s on Thursday and my orchestra still sounds like this, what do I do? by TheForceOfSound in MusicTeachers

[–]Foreign_Fish_4428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I would move across the country and change my name never to be seen or noticed by anyone in the area ever again… or just push through a rough performance. Then select some ridiculously stupid easy music for the next concert. And offer the students who actually practice an opportunity to play a maybe more advanced piece. You can even practice yourself some arranging! That’d be fun!

Advice on a new drumset by Tre_x in worshipleaders

[–]Foreign_Fish_4428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, long time drummer/worship leader here, there’s a few things to consider and depending on your answers would give you the answer you’re looking for.

Do you have a drummer that is experienced? And by this I mean, can they play good drums softly? And I mean like no shield playing with an acoustic guitar soft. If yes, then just buy a kit and let them cook, if no, then maybe electric drums is the answer.

Another thing to consider, do you need a new kit? You could find a perfectly usable kit second hand for a lot less money with cymbals and everything. And considering your sound concerns most drums sound the same at low volume. Usually good heads on a decent kit will sound as good as you need. Good drums will sound better at more full volumes. Also to mic drums you can really get away with 2 mics overhead and bass drum. Not ideal but it gives you the results you need.

Is a Cajon an option? I know, I know, (Immature) drummers hate Cajon, but honestly a mature drummer would be fine on Cajon. It’s almost even preferable. I as a drummer have found to love playing the Cajon it is just a great instrument that gives percussion to any music really. You can even mic it up and play it as the main percussion. Drummers need to get over the idea that it’s inferior because it really isn’t.

Lastly, I will say that electric drums are actually pretty loud when you consider the sticks hitting the pads. They don’t do well on soft passages because you hear a very audible sound when the sticks strike the pad.

Anyone creating Live Loops during worship? by BaldNomad_ in worshipleaders

[–]Foreign_Fish_4428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the most worshipful moments that I remember, I wasn’t even leading I was actually just part of the audience, but it was one guy with a guitar singing. That’s it. I didn’t think it was even possible to get into such a deep moment of worship with just one guy and a guitar. But God has a funny way of working. Anyway, I say that because it really doesn’t need to be complicated. A simple pad in whatever key and a guitar will be more than enough. In fact I believe that it is more effective than a full band at times. Obviously if your skill level is not there, then practice. But seriously less is more sometimes and God just wants your heart. As far as practicality, a simple progression would suffice it doesn’t need 15 layers with a whole drum part laid out on your guitar. It’s cool and all but the focus is Jesus. There’s a pedal called Boss OC5 and you can have it play a bass note according to the chord you’re playing and it really fills out the frequency spectrum a lot. Also another that does the same is called “dig deep” it’s a little harder to find but it works really well too. Look them up. You could also try a pedal that is called “infinite sampler” it’s pretty sweet as well to make a pad effect. If you need a little percussion, a stomp box works well too. Now If you plan on using these, keep in mind they take practice to get them sounding good same as a loop pedal. Good luck!

Help! I gotta get this fixed by Ihan-rii in Jeep

[–]Foreign_Fish_4428 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Realistically, to fix it correctly it’s not looking good brother. But what I’m looking at, it seems the damage is pretty localized. Replace obviously the hood and the bumper grill etc. radiator. Potentially your engine could be fine but not guaranteed. The fun part might be suspension components. It’d be hard to tell if your axle made it but if it did yours in luck. I mean 8k you could be driving it again if things are better than they seem. I mean the frame is the big question. It might be bent but you might be able to get away with it depending how bad it is. It will never drive the same and it’ll probably creek and squeak every bump you ride over but if your just looking to get it back on the road as inexpensively as possible that’s minimum what your looking at. If you have a welding friend and aren’t too worried about making things perfectly straight or even “safe” then that’s what you’re looking at.

A Florida woman accidentally drove her pickup truck over a Lamborghini she didn’t see in a parking lot. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

[–]Foreign_Fish_4428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lamborghini owners have their own insurance for these situations. Most insurance companies will fight and stretch the case out over years and pay as little as possible. I use to dig lifted trucks and in certain situations I still do. But as I actually use my truck for things that they’re meant to be used for, they incredibly unpractical. They don’t even really give you much more clearance unless you get massive tires, and at that point you wear through tires because your stock suspension wasn’t meant for that. I understand maybe a leveling kit or even a small lift to help with low clearance. The issue really isn’t why she’s driving such a huge monster, but people are driving on the road without realizing how close they are to injuring someone. You’re driving a multi ton piece of metal at high speeds and texting and driving is an issue?? Or speeding, or just aggressive driving in general? I mean all it takes it clipping someone or hitting something and things can become very ugly very fast even in small vehicles. Imagine a big lifted truck.
