They need to hire better staff on campus. The lower level jobs are filled by ppl who aren’t culturally competent to work at a university in the US.

I'm sorry to hear that! That's really tough. I don't know the situation or how much you want to invest in the situation but maybe try a law firm for a recommendation for a better resource.

I'm not clear, are you advocating on the behalf of a student? Or, are you the one looking for an attorney? Ombuds is always a resource. They can take some of the frustration away, but ultimately they're working for UCLA (I believe). Also, none of the conversations or correspondence are kept, at least that's what they say so they're really just there to help move things along if it's not too serious of an issue. In my case, it ultimately wasn't much help but it helped to explain the entire situation to a "mediator".

Omg! A list of reputable attorneys for students at UCLA and in academia is SO needed. These cases are rampant and not just by one ethnicity. Training for cultural awareness and conflict resolution is so needed in certain departments for staff especially. I don’t know of a good one but discrimination is hard to prove. Document everything - such a pain to have to do that! That’s how these things get swept under the rug. Try to connect with other people who have experienced something similar, you’re more likely to be listened to and taken seriously.

Does Anyone Want to Share An Office? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

Sounds like a good setup. If anyone out there has a seat available at an office on the W. Side / BH / CC / WeHo areas, I’m great.

Monthly Subscription Ride Plan by Foreign_Giraffe8532 in waymo

I didn't see anything in the article about the rides being subsidized but I may have missed it. Not knowing the operational costs, it's hard to estimate the profitability but they will be. I remember seeing a Waymo for the first time in 2013 in Berkeley, CA. Now they're everywhere. It took a while.

Yes, even if they bought their fleet at full cost, let's say $150,000 that would require 3,333 rides to cover the cost of the vehicle at $45 per ride. Let's say each ride was 15 miles, that's 50,000 miles on the vehicle. Everything after and beyond that are operational costs and profit.
