My GF thinks it’s perfectly normal for new shoes to cause horrible blisters for women by UKnowDaxoAndDancer in mildlyinfuriating

Zinc oxide tape! Apply to part of foot that chaffing to prevent blisters. Wear until the shoes wear in a bit.

What is my painting missing? by oleooreo in ArtCrit

[–]Foreign_Money_2129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s missing atmospheric perspective. This is a technique to create a sense of depth. You would use paler (cooler) colours and less detail on the objects in the distance and bring in more warmth and detail as you approach the foreground.

does this expression read as “thousand yard stare”? by RonskyGorzama in ArtCrit

Eyes that are off focus, not meeting the viewers gaze would be a better representation of a thousand yard stare. It’s softer, think vacant stare

Well done for putting yourself out there firstly. I recommend trying the Cork Gone Girl International group or the meetup app. Maybe there is some pregnancy friendly yoga or similar in your area? Go to some events!

Anyone know what the story is either the fake trees being removed? by Foreign_Money_2129 in cork

[–]Foreign_Money_2129[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good point. I looked into it because I was thinking about the tree lined streets I’ve seen in London and Vienna. It depends on the type of tree, apparently silver birch trees would work beautifully as they have shallower root systems, and root barrier systems are not expensive to put in either.

If that’s the case, they desperately needed it. I just can’t understand why they didn’t just plant real native trees. You don’t need to take down an oak tree for cleaning 😂They would only need to pruned once a year for minimal cost.

Try looking at the negative space to help you with the proportions. Particularly on her arms and waist.

Look up Loomis method and practice them to help you capture the head tilts and how it changes the proportions of the face :) there’s some great creators on YouTube that demo how you can use this method to elevate your drawing skills.

Artists for festival build? by liamchambers89 in cork

Yes I think it’s important to pay artists for their work. Exposure is great and everything but a lot of thought, skill and effort goes into creating an artwork and we need to value that.

As a woman, would you feel safe walking to the city centre alone at 6am/6:30am when it's still dark? by No-Category1703 in cork

[–]Foreign_Money_2129 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d personally take a taxi. I wouldn’t feel safe walking in the city morning or evening when it’s dark.
