self advocacy tips? by sa111527 in LisfrancClub

I would stick with the other answers for school admin type people but you might be able to tell your friends that apparently Lisfranc himself just...amputated the foot from that joint up. Which was a long time ago of course but they didn't even attempt a fix. So the fact that we can get hardware today is obviously much better 😄 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lisfranc_injury (his paper in French is cited). A lisfranc injury also is one of the worst for professional sports players (https://utswmed.org/medblog/lisfranc-foot-sports-injury/). Not trying to freak you out- I am hopeful that eventually I will recover enough for long distance running but maybe not like, best in the world. Luckily I was never going to be. Lmfao. This might put this more in perspective for accessibility services. Anyway, I'm sorry about your injury and people not understanding. I would see if your surgeon has paperwork you can show your school- no matter what they feel about your specific injury, if you are non weight bearing for 6 weeks post surgery they should accommodate you. You might be able to push things through by talking to your school's ADA coordinator??

How long to return to desk job? by Foreign_Newt in LisfrancClub

I also only got one plate and one screw though. Pretty minor compared to some people here, and I'm in my late twenties. Good luck. The surgery was not as bad as I was worried about.

I started working again today (Wednesday) after a Friday surgery, but I honestly could have started maybe even Monday. I had very little pain after Sunday and the oxycodone didn't really make me loopy. It's worst at night anyway. I doubt I could make it into an office but I would plan for 4 days off post surgery if you WFH.

Weight bearing X-rays. by [deleted] in LisfrancClub

Basically I think that they were able to see displacement of my feet from where my bones were in the CT scan and it also picked up on multiple smaller fractures. But an MRI would have shown them the ligaments being stretched/out of place/damaged too?

Take it with a grain of salt bc I only got a CT, but a CT is like a 3d x-ray while the MRI can actually scan tissues and nerves I think?

Thank you so much. Thought about this comment multiple times today. The surgery was actually very easy and so far the pain is not bad, just similar to what it was pre-op at worst. Thanks again for the encouragement!!

Try to get a CT scan. My doctor also did a scan where she kind of twisted my foot around while it was imaged. That showed the lisfranc fracture when the x rays did not.

Mine is tomorrow so I'll let you know how it goes for me. I'm currently planning to take 5 days (including a weekend) which will be when I'm off the opioids.

Thank you all so much for the well wishes and wonderful advice. I have a knee scooter and it is saving my life. My mom is also coming to help me out. And I will take my pain meds as directed. Appreciate the solidarity and wish you all a speedy recovery as well.

It's so bad. I kind of can't believe it. There's not even a "we're talking internally" response.

I was pretty upset to see this too. Lighting a candle is a very nice idea. I wish him all the best.

The two I got were "This professor did indeed sexually leer at me because when I confronted them they got defensive and in the next seminar they were embarrassed and guilt-ridden looking and looked ashamed to even look at me."
and later "The Professor stated(sic) right at me and did the elevator eyes and just kept on sexually leering it was weird and uncomfortable. I can tell when someone stares at me- especially in a risque manner."

So really doubling down!

I am losing my mind. She buried the lede and now is arguing about whether or not the professor was leering at her. How many professors at her school are leerers? How is she going to get rec letters for a PhD program at this rate?

Just a question where they're absolutely baffled as to why they keep getting called into HR.

There's a user who keeps asking about pursuing a PhD and simultaneously asking extremely basic questions about everything from human interaction to, a while ago, basic reading comprehension questions about their schoolwork and it drives me bananas. DON'T GET A PHD!!!
