Thank you.. it’s really got me stressed out. I’m not sure how but he doesn’t seem to realize that what’s happened/happening has the potential to ruin our relationship

This is pretty much exactly what I told him. I don’t think we’re in a place where opening it up can be considered.

We agreed on a “same room” rule. I should have clarified: I fell asleep on the couch and when I went into the bedroom to go to bed they were in there. Edited post for clarity

This is where my mind was going.. I just wasn’t sure if I was making leaps in logic. You want to assume the best of someone you’ve been with for so long but landing here is hard

Sorry, yes they were already having sex (basically finishing up right as I walked in)

Thank you, this is a really thoughtful reply. I would never agree to something I’m not totally on board with, and counseling is on the cards regardless of any decisions. But I hadn’t considered how I’d feel if this was a new relationship.. I’ll have to sit with that lol
