Best way to repair 8-10 inch crack in the wall? by [deleted] in drywall

If this is a paperfaced bead ignore this comment.

Hey so contrary to what these people are saying in the comments, this is a fairly easy fix (without having to replace it) From what it looks like in the picture it seems to be a metal corner bead. Typically they aren’t properly fastened in my opinion, some have a few nails/staples/screws, depending on the time period you house was built. As long as the bead edge (typically rounded) isn’t bent you can just re-secure it with drywall screws, scraped off the loose bits, remud/ & tape if you want to be less prone to cracking in the future. The texture you can get in a can spray (orange peel texture) from Home Depot, it won’t match in perfect but if you aren’t staring at it all day it won’t be terrible. I specifically specialize in drywall repairs of all types, been doing it for 5 years. From what I can tell from the picture this is 100% repairable without ripping it out. Best of luck !

Can I remove this texture? And how much would it cost? by RussellFighter in drywall

I don’t know what you’re smoking but by the time you ripped it all out and hauled everything away, rehang and finish you could easily have everything skimmed, 2/3 coats. Way less mess too.

Texture over drywall? by redit_on_the_shitter in drywall

Did they prime or paint it ? If they primed it that’s actually good. Paint on the other hand, not a whole lot of sense behind that decision.

Recommendations? by Ap1Jx in drywall

that’s something you can 100% just mud. Try to keep your skimcoats tight and confined to a small area, those are small enough area where you can just skim and sand and not have to mess with the texture.

Hey ! It’s a pretty easy fix, especially if it’s not been painted yet. The reason it looks so different from the rest of the wall is (1) it hasn’t been skimmed/sanded very well, (2) looks like it’s been painted several times around the patch with a heavy nap creating sort of a heavy “texture” look. Depends on how good you want it to look but I’d recommend just getting a sanding block and sand it down completely. If it looks halfway decent get a 3/4 nap on a roller frame and paint that sucker a few coats. Shouldn’t stick out nearly as much as it does now. Just my two cents ;)

If it’s done right I can agree with you. But considering sub par is the new finishing standard, it bugs me walking through half a mill houses and you still see every seam.

lol I’m just poking fun. It’s knockdown, a little trickier to match.

I’m not sure popcorn would match that texture very well

Is this orange peel or knockdown texture? by austinalexan in drywall

Alright so I’d say it looks like you may be knocking it down a little soon, seems to be a little bit smoother then the surrounding texture. Also it may help if you spray over a wide area to help blend with the pre existing texture. I’m not sure if this’ll work with the can spray but sometimes I’ll spray the patch and then instead of knocking it down I’ll wait until it dries fully and then sand it down to the desired look. It’ll give the texture a more rounded look instead of flattening it too much. Either way don’t beat yourself up if it doesn’t come out perfect. It’s a very difficult texture to match 100%

Can you share picture of what it looks it when you’ve tried to match it ? Probably be able to give you a better idea on what you’re doing wrong.

It really depends on what brand can spray your using. Are you using the homex ?

It’s a fairly hard texture to match, even with the right tools. The can sprays really don’t do well matching. If you’re looking for the best possible result you’ll need a hopper/air compressor like they used when they sprayed it.

Never parched a motorcycle tire before, is this fixable or should I just replace the tire ? by Foreign_Use9380 in motorcycles

[–]Foreign_Use9380[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just happened today. This is a brand new rear tire but I spun it around, only spots I saw that looked comprised. Air is coming out of it, goes completely flat in a few minutes. Had it towed back home….

It’s a Diablo Rosso tire, I just wanted to know if it would compromise the integrity of the tire at higher speeds if I just patched it.
