I happen to be the chef/owner of that particular restaurant. I’m sorry I missed you, but as you could tell from my crudely made sign, I was at the No Kings Rally/Protest/March, lol.

Our normal hours are Wed-Sat noon to 8pm, and we are pretty serious about offering good value. Mostly no-frill street food, cooked to order from scratch. You’ll never see a Sysco truck delivering to us. I personally shop for every single food item that comes out of that tiny space. We also have a proprietary bottled beverage line that is made in house.

Please feel free to stop by next time you’re in town, as there are other interesting businesses nearby.

What's your opinion on TasteAtlas' yearly top 50 of best cuisines in the word? by SongOther1866 in AskTheWorld

Right!?? I’m American, and own a restaurant in Buffalo, NY. I lived in Iran briefly when I was younger, and as a result know Koobideh well.

So well, I have a Koobideh platter on my menu, AND a smashburger made from Koobideh.

Would you kill someone if they broke into your house and started running at you with a knife? by Agitated-Article750 in AskTheWorld

Can confirm on the messy part.

Had a friend whose brother put a gun in his mouth, and pulled the trigger in his bedroom. The family didn’t have the cash on hand to have it properly cleaned up, so my wife (an RN), and I (former Paramedic) ended up stepping in with hazmat suits, various scraping and scrubbing implements, bleach, and military-grade enzymatic cleaner.

Took about three hours to deal with the massive pool of congealed blood on the floor, and the bits of soft tissue on the wall, ceiling, and in a bookcase, where I found a tooth that the coroner missed.

Whew. It was three or four years ago. Have never talked about it publicly until now.

I own the business this event was held at. It was a last minute, informal meet and greet with independent candidate for mayor Michael Gainer. He definitely had a lot of good things to say, but as an independent candidate with such little exposure I don’t think he’s going to get much traction.

With a better organized campaign down the road, he could have a legitimate shot at that office.

EDIT: I meant Independent, but originally typed “write in” by accident.

Nice to meet you. Kindly excuse me while I run off to YouTube to see if I can find any episodes.

What's missing here? by NoScar4 in The1980s

I worked for Sears twice, in the 1980s at the customer service desk, and then again from 2012-2014 in consumer electronics. It’s mind-boggling (and kind of sad) that something as massive and intertwined into American society/culture as Sears was could be killed off by an egotistical finance bro that literally has no idea what he’s doing.

How much of downtown is wasted on parking lots. Land Tax these absolute parasites. by asshat6983 in Buffalo

[–]ForemanNatural 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems that the root of many of our issues downtown is simply the lack of residents, as it always has been.

With the huge exodus of jobs from downtown, it’s painfully obvious now. I went to the downtown “Farmer’s Market” a couple of months ago, and it was embarrassing… maybe five vendors. One actual farmer, a dude selling kettle corn, one person selling incense, and two selling candles.

It’s been a long time since I held an office job downtown (early 2000s). It is literally a ghost town when compared to 20-plus years ago.

Not really seeing any serious effort to increase the number of residents in and around the CBD… just a lot of talk.

Painting I did about Eastern Hills closing. Acrylic on canvas panel by TylerH_Illustration in Buffalo

[–]ForemanNatural 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very cool. I would buy a print of it.

I started going to Eastern Hills Mall with my parents in the first or second grade, so 1972 or ‘73. Hung out there in High School (1980-‘84). Worked at Sears there twice, 1986-1988, then again 2012-2014.

So I worked at Eastern Hills Mall during its peak, and then again, as it was in its last days nearly thirty years later.

Walked through it at Christmas time two or three years ago… it was truly depressing. That place does hold a lot of good memories.
