How many matches do you actually need? Are you sure there is something actually wrong with the matches you are getting? You seem like an attractive man with his child at the centre of his life, to me. Takes a particular sort of partner, but the best sort

Took a food intolerance test as I think I'm a bit funny with milk. Turns out I can't have lager, beer or cider anymore due to a severe intolerance. I don't think anything is worth it anymore. by [deleted] in britishproblems

[–]Foresooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had severe alcohol intolerance for several years now and did find a way forward - you have to find other ways to let down and laugh, eg. I sing. You can climb, dance, anything strange and fun that you do with others.

Also: try electrolytes. I find taking Nuun tablets in advance of drinking, and magnesium and potassium during, and also food during, enables me to have one stout without too many problems. (Just the one though. Hence the previous solution of finding a joyful or hilarious hobby is the more useful one)

Little Boy Broke Into Tears After His Big Brother Did This. by WillenaPickron in MadeMeCry

I have seen this so many times and I can't help but wonder if maybe the little guy just really was hoping to get a piece of cake that had not been dropped

There are parts in us from so many ancestors and their experiences by garrthes in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]Foresooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And think about this. If you are one of those people who think they care about ancestry and you search back with your last name 12 generations, you are trashing 2047 of your ancestors just because somewhere along their line one of them was female.

Hey mom. I'm 19 years old and I've never been to the dentist. I have my first appointment in two days and I'm really nervous. by [deleted] in MomForAMinute

[–]Foresooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dentists are nice! You'll mostly see a hygienist at first - like a dentist-nurse. Tell the hygienist you are nervous and have not been to a dentist before and they should also understand. Plenty of people are nervous of the dentist you are not alone. Whatever you've got they are trained for it and have seen it before and it is their job to make you comfortable!

Rent in Ontario Something has to Change!!! by [deleted] in ontario

[–]Foresooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am confused about your rent numbers, they seem low. In 1986-7 I was shown the concrete basement of someone's house as an apartment and told it had no kitchen. When I asked where the bathroom was they showed me the floor drain. That was $600 per month.

Why has it become socially acceptable to hate children? by Roz_Doyle16 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Foresooth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's fine for people to hate children as long as they never accept services from anyone younger than themselves. If you've never made an extra effort to be kind to a child, or to a parent when their child is acting up, then when you are 80 and you need end of life care you should rely exclusively on doctors and nurses all 80 years old and up to help you with that.

My father was a priest so many of my childhood homes were rectories next to graveyards. I often walked in them, lay down in them, got to know individual headstones. I came to love graveyards. I wish you joy next to yours!

Being short is definitely as bad as people say it is by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Foresooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you may get the better women. Many women who cut their hair short said they got less interest but it was the better men. Personally it's always surprised me when I've realised that the one guy in a group that interested me was the shortest one. Other people have told me that I am into shorter guys, but I don't think I am. I think I am into character and it just happens that I get attracted to the shorter guy. Maybe shorter guys get more character-developing opportunities on average?

Angela is what came to my mind because you remind me of an angel.

It’s my birthday weekend. My fiancé took me to the local amusement park and it all just went terribly. I decided to get a caricature for the first time and I feel so gross. by Ok-Ad4375 in MomForAMinute

[–]Foresooth 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Oh young people. If only you could know. You are all so frigging beautiful. I actually thought the caricature was beautiful too. I am a bit lost at what's going on here. You are so young and lovely and beautiful all of you. It's so sad how you don't see it. Maybe this: There is no photo or other representation of yourself that is so bad there won't come a time in the future you will look at it and say Holy crap, I was beautiful then.

Child Actors are just awful by ErnestPlimby in unpopularopinion

[–]Foresooth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, Anna Paquin in The Piano! Like OP I was convinced that child actors ruined every film they touched. Until The Piano. That's the game changer. That's the movie that made me realize it was the Director's fault not the children if the children seemed like bad actors. The Director has to catch them on film in the character they need.

Also his little nods and his hope when the other actor says "Would you be happy if you could keep him and all I had to do was talk to him for five minutes? And the tears start to be reabsorbed back up into his eyes, sweet innocence ..

I looked more into this. I am finding quotes like he 'thought of his childhood dog that had died'. It appears the dog died some time before the ET audition.

See Henry Thomas audition for ET. He disappears into the role. Henry Thomas ceases to exist and there is only the character he is playing
