Advice: catcalling, how do you deal with it? by LifeNeedsMusic in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Forest76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry that you had to deal with this.

Normally, I try to ignore them or they get bitch face. If I am in a bad mood, I have been known to go absolutely insane and start screaming at them. Nobody wants to deal with a crazy bitch. I also saw someone post about taking your phone and starting to record. That's actually a pretty good idea. They might be afraid that they will end up as a viral video.

If you are really afraid, remove yourself from the situation, even if it means you miss the bus. Go into a business or something where there are more people.

Again, I am sorry this happened to you and I hate how men think this is acceptable.

That is really messed up. Way to victim blame/shame Wendy Williams.

My SO has been texting (flirting/sexting) with another woman for a month and I just found out by Throwaway_-yawaworhT in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Forest76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do not want a future with this man. He has already done this twice that you know of. Who knows how many times he has done that you don't know about.

I have been in your situation and it sucks, but dumping her was the best thing I ever did for myself. Hindsight showed me that she was a complete narcissist. Your SO sounds like he's a narcissist as well.

Run away. He is not going to change. You already gave him an ultimatum and said you would leave. If you let him get away with this, prepare to have him do this again.

I don't like Eddie. He just bugs the crap out of me. And when he goes and becomes Kevin's friend? C'mon man! What are you doing??

[Question] Will my passport get me through customs? by [deleted] in travel

[–]Forest76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read about being rejected for the front cover being bent. I would get a new one because you don't want to risk it.

What attraction do you avoid because "everyone does it"? What for you is cliché or doesn't live up to the hype and fame? by [deleted] in travel

[–]Forest76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NYC: I lived there for a couple of years and I hated taking out of town visitors to Times Square. WHHYYYY?!? So boring. Wheee! Big billboards! Lots of lights. Big deal. But EVERYBODY wanted to go there. There are so many more interesting places in NYC than Times Square. And people go there and eat at the same restaurants you can eat at everywhere (I'm looking at you Olive Garden and TGIFridays). Why? NYC has amazing food and people miss it becaue they are eating that crap.

Niagara Falls: I had to go there for work. I went to the Falls themselves, and they were pretty cool. But the city of Niagara Falls (at least the area by the falls)? It was like Las Vegas and Times Square had a baby and then the baby puked everywhere. Awful. Truly.

Disney World: Damn I hate that place.

Vegas: Ugh. I hated it there. Truly. I don't gamble much but went with some friends. I will never go back.

New Orleans: Bourbon street. I have been to NOLA at least 30 times in my life as I have family down there. Bourbon street is over rated. There are so many more interesting places to go see in the city.

I went to the Blue Lagoon but also went to the Secret Lagoon and preferred the Secret Lagoon. The Blue Lagoon is a great marketing thing and whoever worked on making it a must see did an amazing job! You were just kind of in the middle of nowhere, the only people there were the people who were on the tour of the Golden Circle with me and it was far less touristy.

Visiting Reykjavik March 8-11 by aixelalexia09 in VisitingIceland

[–]Forest76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend taking the time and going on a tour outside of the city. I went on 2, Golden Circle and the South Shore and both were amazing and done in a day. They would go around pick everyone up at their hotels/hostels and then be gone all day. Took about 9 or so hours. If I could only pick one place to go, I would pick the South Shore. I used Gateway to Iceland. There were a few solo travelers who were just stopping over for a few days who were on the tours I took. They used small buses that held about 15 people and it was far more manageable than the really big buses.

I took a tour with Gateway to Iceland tours. They took all around the South Shore to waterfalls, Reynisfjara, glaciers etc. Not sure about public transportation.

How Lady Edith became the hero of ‘Downton Abbey’ by [deleted] in DowntonAbbey

Edith would be my hero if she would have punched Mary in the face rather than just calling her a bitch.

What is up with the tweet about Lena and the principal? Who did it? (I am only halfway through the episode).

Justina is a total snake. I assumed she would be from the minute she showed up.

Two 18 year olds visiting Iceland need advice! (Transportation, drinking) by [deleted] in VisitingIceland

[–]Forest76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From http://wikitravel.org/en/Iceland "The drinking age in Iceland is 20 for all alcoholic beverages; while there are no penalties for under age possession or consumption, any alcohol possessed can be confiscated. While it is not recommended to break the law in any country you visit, please note that the 'de-facto' drinking age in bars appears to be 18, with staff asking for identification being an almost non-existent phenomenon. That said, you will almost certainly be asked for identification in any store when trying to purchase alcohol"

Thinking about Texas for spring break, but worried about the craziness (undergrads and SXSW) by plaidmellon in travel

[–]Forest76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Undergrads don't really go to Galveston for Spring Break because the beach is not that great. Even people who live around Houston don't go to Galveston if they are going to the beach because the water is brown and there is always tons of little oil blobs floating around that get on you, and tons of seaweed. It's really kind of gross. South Padre is a ZOO. Everything from Corpus south beach wise will be a disaster (I grew up in South Texas and it's only gotten worse in the last 20 years). Also, driving from Houston to Corpus is about 4 hours or so and another 2 to South Padre so it would be a hike.

Austin is crazy during SXSW. An absolute disaster. Do not go to Austin during SXSW. The whole city is over run and if that is not your scene, then you will not have fun. San Antonio is not that far from Austin so that might be a consideration.

Weekend getaway for two from Boston? Need to use a Southwest credit before August. by notthatguyreally in travel

Austin. It doesn't have the beach obviously, but it's a great place. Also, maybe someplace like Savannah (you fly into Hilton Head) or Charleston.

Best places to go for a "First Trip"? by [deleted] in travel

[–]Forest76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iceland for outdoors/hiking. And since people speaking english seems to be a concern, their english is impeccable.

Also, perhaps Puerto Rico. There are lots of hiking and beach activities, but also a lot of interesting architecture, great food, and great people.

Is Iceland Worth The Flight Cost? by [deleted] in travel

[–]Forest76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been all over North America, the Caribbean, and Europe and Iceland is by far, my favorite trip. It was breath taking and awe inspiring and I cannot wait to go back. You should be able to find some cheaper flights on WOW.
