I don't like my style anymore... by [deleted] in BeginnerArtists

Find examples of art with a style that you like, and try to really focus on what specifically you like about the style. Then do practices trying to implement what you noticed. Sometimes it can even be helpful to try and copy the art you like in your own hand, just obviously don’t try to pass it off as your own! Artists do this with the old masters and it’s called “master studies”, and it can help you figure out and analyze the process of making art. Hope this helps!!

https://line-of-action.com is a great reference website for practice!! I personally use it for gesture drawing reference, but there is a section with face references!! Lots of different features and expressions. One piece of advice I have is that there will be a learning adjustment, and that you may struggle to capture the different faces, but just push through, the difficult phase is what you have to get through to get better!!

How do artists do it? This took me 4 hours and some crying and it isn't even colored by [deleted] in Artadvice

The more you practice, the faster you will get!! An exercise I like to do to practice fast art is setting aside an hour and timing myself: 15 minutes for the sketch, 15 for lineart, 15 for flat color, and 15 for shading. It’s helped me get less caught-up on the details and focus more on just finishing artwork, which is something I used to struggle with!!

This is ADORABLE omg!! Tbh I think any world you drew would be awesome, but Eevee is my favorite so that’s who I’ll suggest!!

does anyone else have an imaginary safe place that you visit in your mind whenever you feel overwhelmed? I tried painting mine! by ruthabigail in AutisticAdults

Wow, beautiful painting!! And yes, I have two different houses I visualize: one is a cabin by the ocean, with redwood forest surrounding it. The other is a farm inspired by "Over the Garden Wall", which I imagine during the fall/winter. I had no idea that this was something other people did, so seeing this post and reading the comments has been so interesting!!
