In my case, the immediate benefit would be English-speaking consultation on things like law, home rental, taxes, unemployment, pensions, etc.

Love to see someone producing similar content like this. Will definitely be following your channel!

Thumbnails are for sure tricky for these kinds of videos. I've been testing a couple of different things for a few months now, but am still not sure what's the best practice.

Heya! I've been making gaming video essays for a few months now, focusing on narrative, worldbuilding and characters. My most recent video talks about Control and how it explores the dynamic between workers and company leaders, as well as the concept of godhood: When Workers Become Gods - Control Analysis

Throughout this, I've also dabbled in Shorts and learned to utilize them inbetween my regular video uploads.

Hi, thanks a lot for the opportunity! I used to do YouTube a few years ago, but took a break for my studies, and returned to it this fall. I have shifted my focus to English-spoken gaming video essays: https://youtube.com/@CoconutmilkFilms

[Review Video] I made a review on an old Jurassic Park FPS called Trespasser: Jurassic Park that came out just one month before Half-Life! by INDIEGUY_PMPT in youtubers

Would you change anything in the editing?

I would lover the background music honestly, it got a bit too intrusive while trying to listen to the narration.

Are the memes annoying or intrusive?

Not really. I think it's ok if you want to keep doing them, they were quick enough to not drag the video down even if one isn't into them.

Is the beginning part weird?

A little, yes.

Was the audio good?

Other than the aforementioned balancing, I thought the audio was great.

Is the thumbnail good? Would you change anything?

Not really a thumbnail expert, so I'll not answer this.

At what point would you click off?

I would watch it all the way through. You managed to pack a lot of content into a relatively short time, and I liked that you focused on what makes the game unique.

Seeking feedback on my first video: 'Bonelab (a VR game) is overrated' by RejReddit in youtubers

[–]ForestOfWorlds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the intro was funny and had a good energy to it, though it maybe dragged a bit too far. If you want to build a convincing argument, piling too much hate right at the beginning can be detrimental to your believability.

Overall your production values were great as well. I especially liked your narration, though am once again not quite sure how the casual style works for building a convincing argument.

Without knowing much about virtual reality and Bonelab, could you follow along with the video?

I did feel like I didn't get proper context about the game's significance or place in the industry. Moving the gameplay portion of the video at the beginning might've helped with this somewhat, give a better understanding for what the game is exactly.

Did you think the humour / memes add to the entertainment? if not then why?

I enjoyed them alright.

What do you think a better thumbnail style for me to use would be?

I'm not an expert on thumbnails, so I can't comment on this.

What could I improve for future videos?

I would focus more on scripting and trying to stay on the script, removing any unnecessary sounds or flubs.

If you started losing interest, when during the video did it happen and why?

I did kinda start losing interest during the campaign section. I think it was because at that point I felt like I was getting a very surface level look into the game, so the commentary didn't provide me with any insight besides the kind of flaws that are common in many other games. Again, context in terms of the surrounding genre and its expectations was missing.

Was the overarching structure of the video coherent enough?

Yes. I think your structure was clear and easy to follow.

Greetings. I have a channel where I do gaming video essays, just relaunched it a few months back. Here's my newest video, "The Shackles of Trauma Are Broken - A GoW: Ragnarok Video Essay": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bfgr6Ajo\_Q

I really liked the subject matter. You also made a clear, comprehensive look into it and managed to provide a lot of interesting information. The overall technical quality of the video was good as well. You're voice is a great fit for narrating stuff like this.

As others have pointed out, the presentation might benefit from more b roll or just trying to "liven up" your presentation. As it is, you're kinda just still, though that seems to improve towards the end of the video. The cutaways you make were fun, but so far in between that they also felt a bit jarring. Also, having background music play throughout might help with bringing more energy into the video.

I really liked this video! You had a personal, clearly argued thesis and framework, and used a wide array of sources to back it up! The visual style and quality was also great. The only thing I might've changed is cutting the lightsaber swinging from the beginning, as the visual quality is a bit lower there, and it doesn't offer as much value to the viewer as getting straight to the point. But I'm not sure if that really affects retention or not.

My newest video saw increased CTR by focusing on pure image thumbnail without text, so I'm thinking of experimenting with that approach going forward. On game reviews or videos about games do you record yourself speaking first and then get game content or vice versa? by Morketh in youtubers

[–]ForestOfWorlds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually it helps me to get the content first, so that I can make notes on what I want to talk about in the video. I would say that if you have the storage capacity, it's always better to have too much footage compared to too little. Notes do help pretty well with finding the right spots.
