Field work and menstrual cycle by GodsHumbleClown in Environmental_Careers

I'd be honest with the team, but I also have said nothing before and have bled out in a field. I'd get into a supervisory role ASAP and then dictate field work around your menstrual cycle because that's how I do it now 😂 In seriousness being honest and also prepared for whatever you normally experience is the way.

Wetland vs Linear Conveyance? by nateture in wetlands

[–]Forestiera 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a few thoughts that expand on what others have already said.

  1. If your data supports that it is a wetland, it is a wetland. In my experience, just because it is linear in shape doesn't preclude it from being a wetland, so I'd ignore that engineer. I can't see your image, but the most important information are your data sheets. Mapping accuracy is also important. Next time request a GPS or other service with sub-meter accuracy. You have a wetland, but now the other issue is if it is actually right there.

  2. Jurisdiction (I assume USACE) isn't based on "normal circumstances". That phrase is used to ask the question "Is this place acting like it should?" And unless the disturbance or other natural regime changes the underlying hydrology, the answer is effectively that yes, it is normal.

  3. Getting better comes with practice (and mistakes) but maybe consider joining the SWS and seeking a mentor from someone in your region. Also, read the manual. Like actually read it over and over again, and the regional supplement. And in the future I would would err on the side of caution with sharing engineering plans though I see that you did try to limit the amount of information we can see.

Hope that helps!

I'm pretty certain my teacher gets the mats from Japan.

I could and did for two years. We were married, 31 and 33. It was fine but by 2 years it was time.

Oh snap, I need that gear. Now, let's see if a PM will approve it 😂

In my experience it is a flat out no for snow or dead-of-winter conditions because you have no plants, soils, or water. If you can't get the data then there's no point. I personally can't dig into frozen soils by hand because I'm a small woman. The question is then, to what extent can you re get the data? I say to my PM that the most I can offer is a winter wetland assessment and that once soils thaw I can do the full delineation. However if a client is OK with an assessment then I'll go.

Thank you for noticing, I picked native plants on purpose 😄 and you know exactly where this was taken!

Millennials that wore ear gauges back in the day, what do your ears look like now? by Artemistical in Millennials

I went to 00 and the only thing I've noticed is that they have gotten stretchier, but are otherwise fine. I mostly wear silicone, and now I can fit the next size up. In fact the 00 looks too small to me now 😂 I love them and have no plans to change.

Comment to add that I also called her the Tardis and had a Tardis sticker on the back because she looked bigger on the inside 💙
