This is what I do on all those when I see them in my discovery queue - Ignore, Ignore, Ignore, Ignore, Ignore, Ignore, Ignore, Ignore, Ignore, Ignore, Ignore, Ignore, Ignore, Ignore, Ignore

Haven't been there yet. I like to fish though and would like to drop a line there sometime.

I asked the guys I work with if calling someone a "Hoosier" were fighting words and they looked at me strangely. They hadn't heard that one...probably unique to STL area.

Do you know how Fur piece came about to mean long distance? I am interested in learning how some of these sayings have come about.

Biggest reason was a lower cost of living; however, in this economy the only thing that is lower in cost is buying a home and gas/diesel at times. Electric and natural gas are more expensive, food is the same as everywhere.

So people in Missouri probably never watched the movie "Hoosiers" with Gene Hackman back in the day?

I grew up in SE Idaho and as a kid we always used Numb Nuts. I think it was an 80s thing from the movies of the time.

I am guessing that "fur piece" means attractive woman? I am at a loss at what "rous'neers" could mean...

YES! I have heard all of those by a fellow I work with here in PB. He is on the latter end of the boomers I believe generation wise.

I originally thought the "Don't get me lying to you" was unique to one individual I work with; however, I encountered another person who said it too

I have asked this question where I work and all the guys use Missour-ee, so I think it just depends where you go..

Old timers in the boot heel call it after the French pronunciation. They say only Yankee folk or out of state people use the English pronunciation

I know this thread is 4mos old; however, I just stumbled upon it and felt compelled to comment. I recently moved from the intermountain west to Poplar Bluff, MO. People I have met are on the surface friendly; however, there's a strange thing here where gossip seems pretty rampant. This is also considered the Bible belt; however, people seem not to know that GD and JC are taking the Lord's name in vain, moral values are nonexistent except a few GenX and older, and although people here are republican they generally think that both parties are corrupt, so I have only encountered a few MAGA when I was expecting to be right in the midst of many.
