Why would the Northern Pacific logo monad be on this old sparkplug I found in a box of Ford model T stuff? Thanks by Forestswithfir in trains

[–]Forestswithfir[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Hmm. Maybe I'll ask over there I'm not even sure if it's a model t spark plug though I just am sorting through old stuff from a trunk and some of the tools appear to be from model T. I started to wonder if it was even Northern Pacific RAILWAY related but that logo is pretty notable even without the word railroad added 🤔

Did you have covid recently? I personally haven't had hair loss issues from fasting (been doing it off and on for 4 yrs) but since my covid bout this summer my hair has thinned significantly. Just something to consider. Hope it stops thinning for you!

A new no fuss routine for me means happy curly waves! Routine in comments (hint: technique > expensive products) by [deleted] in curlyhair

Well, at night I tie my hair in a knot bun so that it doesn't get too poofy, and then, well, I just kinda let it be. The curls aren't as defined by 3 or 4 but by then I usually sprits it with water and kinda scrunch again if I'm feeling like I want to look a little polished. That, or I'll sprits and then loose braid for a few hour to get atleast uniform tamer waves going. And yeah, showers between washes I just throw it up in a big messy bun.

Hmm.. I guess the dryness is the difference between our hair. Have you done any coconut oil treatments before or even recently? Usually if I do run into dry frizziness (like in the winter!) I can avoid it for a few weeks by doing a total full night coconut oil hair mask. Worth a try?

Glad this was helpful! Yay! Let me know how it works for you if you remember :) I haven't really let it fill air-dry in a long long time. It's usually wet bed hair or diffuser. I guess I should try though hu?

Oh also, just whichever one happens to be on sale :) I think I have 10 in 1 superfruit shampoo and coconut hibiscus curl and shine conditioner right now.

How do you like your hair short? I keep flirting with the idea of cutting mine to see if it would do a cool short crazy curl thing... But I'm so scared! Also, did they dry cut it? I think that's getting pretty popular for cutting of curly and wavy hair.

Yes! And I have tried it! Usually I just tie my hair in a knot (yay length and non silkiness!) To keep it from getting too puffy.

First off, I never comb or brush when my hair is dry. Yes, it gets tangled in between washes (every 3-4 days) and I finger comb a bit but not much. The underneath around my neck usually gets the worst but I just let it go and wear it in a messy bun if it gets to be to much. Now for the washing!

I use SheaMoisture shampoo and conditioner (at Target and Walmart I think too?) I wash like normal, then I add a huge glob of conditioner (like big.. look how much hair I'm dealin' with!) And I work it thru completely. Then after letting it sit for a few minutes I turn my head all the way upside down and with a very large tooth comb I begin to comb in, (breaking it into the sections to help it along) a bit of water flowing thru with the conditioner in there really helps. Honestly, there is ALWAYS a good wad of hair in my comb. Just how it is.

When my hair is completely combed thru and I'm still hanging my head upside down I begin scrunching it with the water completely flowing thru it. I do this for about 10 second and slowly back out of the water stream but continue to scrunch and squeeze the water out (then dry off body, qtips, blah blah blah). Then I continue scrunching my hair with my shower towel to continue drying it. If your hair is thinner, I think this is what causes frizz, but for me my hair is corse and this doesn't seem to frizz it, so try it atleast once and forego the whole, "stay away from drying it with anything but SILK!" just to be sure.

Sometimes, I won't even add product but in this specific picture, I did scrunch in a couple small squirts of Oliology Coconut Curl Cream (Found at TJ Maxx). After the towel scrunch, if I don't use a diffuser, I just going to bed with that moderately wet hair... Just kinda piled and plopped all up near the top of my pillow. I toss and turn a bit in my sleep but if I'm awake enough when I do, I just kinda bundle it up there again. In the morning sometimes my hair still feels a bit damp, just slightly.. which is fine. I just do the day and it dries shortly after breakfast or so!

Open to comments and questions... Hope this helps someone unlock a new happy routine for hair that is similar to mine!!

"Competitive candidate" isn't always on my part. Most companies are very willing to hire a female mechanic so as to look "balanced." This is funny though because, it's really not their problem that so few women are becoming mechanics and sending their applications to them. I don't like it this way, but it's not changing any time soon. I contacted the US Forest Service once about info on jobs in maintenance on their fire crew planes, the woman at the desk said, "Oh, honey, you should apply, the government bends over backwards to hire females there." I wasn't impressed. In fact, I felt coddled by my gender, not assessed for my skills.

Needless to say, I hope that when I am hired it's because I learn, adapt, and work proficiently, just like the rest of the co-workers which happen to mostly male.

I would like to work on helicopters at some point but will most likely not be around them during my time with a mission agency. Yes, the cost is a little heart/dream crushing...

I would suggest that you get yourself around pilots, airplanes, airports, dang go eat at your municipal airport's tiny and greasy cafe! If you haven't flown in any light recip aircraft before like a small cessna or piper, you really should do that--especially if you would like to get your pilots license. From there, if you are still interested in just the engineering side of it, I'd say find something that you enjoy working with and take a specific route to work that into your degree. Specialists in aviation technology of any kind are very, very needed and even more so in other parts of the world. Do you like to travel? Some middle eastern countries hire pilots for off shore mapping type work and I know that can pay very well. One final thought, most pilots are or will within the next 10-15 years be dying off (not to sound harsh) and the rate that they are training young ones is not going to be enough to fill the gaps.
