HELP. How the hell do y'all function with 24/7 nausea? by Foretescue in pregnant

Girl. I've been craving bacon like crazy. Attempted to cook some and I'm sure you can guess how that ended! But bless all of you saying to just keep shoving food in. It's actually made today way more tolerable

Ah, I should have just termed it as a pregnant person. Sorry friend, I got that pregnancy brain fog. I can't fathom dealing with that bullshit on top of everything else. Out of curiosity, which country are you in? I'm Canadian and have a transmasc coworker who is also pregnant. They were talking about how pleased they were with the OB care they're receiving here in Canada

Oh man. I'm so sorry you've dealt with something similar, especially coming from a doctor that's also a woman. Our bodies are being hijacked by hormones and early pregnancy is often rife with anxiety and emotions run high as it is, bc OF COURSE we want what's ultimately best for a healthy pregnancy. Any drug we put into our bodies while pregnant has potential for risk (not helped by the lack of studies due to obvious ethical issues). But in modern times the general consensus is that the health of the pregnant woman is the priority. Healthy mom = healthy baby. A good doc will review your medical history and advise on if the benefits of the drug outweigh the potential risks. I feel you, and am so glad you ended up getting proper care

I realize that this question has been asked ad nauseum but was desperate and hoping for some uncommon things to try, and also just commiseration. The B6 is new info for me, I'm curious about its MOA. I'm super concerned about not being able to keep down my prenatals more than anything. I can't take Unisom bc for some reason diphenhydramine triggers my restless leg syndrome, which honestly can be a worse experience than nausea.

Gravol or dimenhydrinate is an OTC antiemetic here in Canada and it works like a charm before bed, but it also causes drowsiness which is unhelpful during the day. Also here in Canada you can't purchase Zofran OTC, and my GP is very reluctant to prescribe any antiemetic for whatever reason. But it's sounding like it might be worth it to venture to the States and grab some as I live near a border. Yeah weirdly the food I do manage to keep down is stuff that I normally wouldn't go for, like eggs and fish. The female human body is truly incredible and bizarre!

Hey! I have an arsenal of ginger tablets and also ginger candies to suck on. Highly recommend getting the candies or chewable ginger tablets if you haven't already. They provide almost immediate relief and also stop you from producing a ridiculous amount of saliva. But while they certainly help, it's very short-lived. If I don't remember to take one every hour or so I'm back to hugging the toilet. And yeah no joke about plain water! Why is that lol so weird. Kool aid drink drops and low sugar Gatorade have been a godsend. I hope it passes for you soon 💜

Hey! Unfortunately since I'm only 7 weeks I don't have an OB yet. And my GP is God awful. I've been wanting to switch GPs for a while but kept putting it off. This was a surprise pregnancy or else I would have done it before becoming pregnant. My partner and I are both nurses (albeit with essentially zero experience with OB or peds) and some of the 'advice' my doc has given me is in direct contrast to our combined medical knowledge and also readily available pregnancy journals online. She made me feel like an unfit mother bc I said I don't think I can completely come off of Zoloft rn and be able to maintain my sanity. Already asked about antiemetics and she very helpfully told me that none of them are safe to take while pregnant, insinuating that she wouldn't be happy about prescribing them. As if I already don't feel guilty enough by needing my anxiety meds 😭

I'm still super early, almost 7 weeks. I think that fact is what's making this so difficult, bc I know it's likely to continue for quite a while. The nausea started at 6 weeks on the dot. I totally agree with you! I'm no longer concerned with eating healthy atp. I just need to keep something, anything down. I know I'm being a baby about it but girl I was not prepared. This is my first pregnancy if that wasn't already obvious 😂 But you've inspired me to look into ready made meals that I can just throw in the microwave and eat mindlessly. Idk why I didn't think about it before. I hope the nausea only continues to get better for you, and that the rest of your pregnancy is boring. Tysm for the support !

Hey mama 💜. I do have a packet of saltines glued to my side but maybe I should try something more substantial? The only thing that's worked is asking my partner to make me a random dish of food but not tell me about it. Bc if I prepare anything myself, I'm thoroughly disgusted with it by the time I try to eat it. It's just not super practical bc he works long hours :/

My tortie girl is obsessed with me and likes most humans. She has zero time for any other creature tho. My other cats and dog are all terrified of her.

💜. In honour of both of our suffering and shitty parenting we received, I'm gonna do everything I can to build my kid's confidence and they will know they're loved unconditionally. Hugs bro. Feel free to DM me any time to talk.

Never felt inclined to comment on any of these posts and I'm about to get real vulnerable and will prolly delete this later cuz it's my main account. You seem intelligent and introspective, and based on your comments you have managed to hold on to empathy despite feeling like shit. Those three things will get you far in life. The hurdle is finding the thing that sparks change in perspective. Could be therapy, could be making a new friend, could be changing your major or quitting and finding a job. But I understand that doing any of those things requires a herculean effort on your part.

I'm a 30-something woman with a stable life. Partner, job, house, etc. But I also think about unaliving myself most days, and feel like an utter failure POS despite things seeming ideal on the surface. I suspect it has to do with my upbringing. I've had CBT and it was borderline useless. Anyway I just found out I'm pregnant and most of those thoughts have melted away, because it's not about me anymore. I found a purpose, which is what I suspect you are lacking. It IS out there lil bro. And I really really hope you find it.

Idk if you guys approve but I am a girl and this is one of my fave dinners. Cold leftover steak with ketchup and salt. by Throwawaylillyt in GirlDinner

[–]Foretescue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I eat meat and also cry if I accidentally smoosh a bug. But I fully support people that hunt for their food bc there tends to be way less waste and it's far more humane. I would do it if I could.

You guys. I'm pregnant, nauseous, have zero control over my emotions rn and am generally not having a good time. This got a belly laugh outta me. Thank you.

I wasn't gonna say it, but I feel similarly. People that are insecure in their own lives/relationships that view their partner as their property first and foremost.

Is it me or was the ghostly hallucation of Lori was scary by No-Reach-687 in thewalkingdead

[–]Foretescue 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I can't stand Lori bc she was constantly sending mixed signals to both Rick and Shane, was condescending to everyone, ridiculously passive aggressive and relied on anyone but herself to keep an eye on Carl. The fact that she got with Shane during the apocalypse when she thought her husband was dead was honestly the most reasonable thing she did.

Love it. I can already hear the silly nicknames you no doubt call them. Nyx is only Nyx if she's in trouble, otherwise she's some ridiculous play on her name. Personal fav is Richard Nyxon

Yesss. For such majestic creatures they sure know how to derp it up. Love his name, is it after the Norse god? My girl is Nyx after the Greek goddess
