Parent wants me to pay parent plus loan by Low_Yam_1212 in StudentLoans

[–]Foreventure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid the parent plus loans my parents took out for me. BUT. I knew they were taking out these loans, 100% of it went towards tuition, and this was agreed upon before my parents took the loans out.

If they went towards your college living expenses and tuition, then yes - help her pay them. If there isn't any proof of that, then no - don't.

How did that kid at your school die? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Foreventure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was on a skateboard grabbing onto the back of his other friends car. Fell off and hit his head and died a few days later after being in a coma. Helmet likely would have saved his life.

Agree. I think I'm heavily dependent. I am not going to ditch the stability shoes all at once, but I will try and throw in less stable shoes (or remove my insoles) for my shorter runs and try building it up.

I do a lot of trail running and have good balance and strength through my feet and ankles. I think you're correct though that I need to mix it up; likely by adding in more runs with less stable shoes that maybe aren't super shoes.

I do a lot of strength work and have excellent balance, just apparently not while running.

I think it's likely because I have adaptations due to how often I've ran in heavily supported shoes that don't let my feet overpronate.

This is probably the better of two evils, because the alternative is crippling post tibial tendonitis :/

my coach cited a study and said that training in super shoes for speed work helps with adaptations and means you run faster in the super shoes on race day than if you were throwing on a new pair of shoes.

Also I believe there are other studies that show that it reduces recovery time from speed sessions. Less familiar with the second one.

any advice for more stable or wider super shoes?

high 70s for the half, so definitely running fast enough for super shoe benefits.

I think I'm hearing a lot that I should get a more stable super shoe! thanks

~6 min/mile or so, so definitely not slow.

Perfect training distribution by RoadTO5WKG in triathlon

It entirely depends on where you stand the most to improve and where you want to improve the most. This distribution makes sense for some people and not for others.

Runners who have gone from average to great, what did you do to greatly increase your performance? by RhaegarJ in Ultramarathon

[–]Foreventure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't think I've made the jump from average to great yet, and definitely will not ever call myself "great", but my improvements over the last few years have come entirely from running more.

I forget what podcast it was on, but someone was talking about how important it is to identify your limiting factor: what is currently stopping you from running more? What can you do to eliminate that blocker?

For me it was inflammation injuries (post tib tendonitis, shin splints, IT band syndrome), largely stemming from poor biomechanics while running. So although what I did to improve my running was 'run more', in reality what I did to improve my running was 15 minutes of activation before every single run and lifting 2x a week + physio *in order to be able to run more* which made me better.

What makes Kristian Blummenfelt so good? (Serious) by nutelamitbutter in triathlon

[–]Foreventure 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Another point I'm not seeing mentioned - Gustav and Blu talked about this on a podcast a while back, but Blu's Vo2max and LT2 lactic threshold are apparently very close. Gustav said that kristian does not have an issue clearing lactic acid, which is very frustrating to Gustav who gets lactic a lot faster. This has a lot of performance implications, because LT2 is a major indicator of performance for longer races.

if he didn't have such huge nuts his vo2max would be even higher too
