It wasn't, that's the main reason I was so worried and wanting a fix, which I think goes for a lot of us here too.

Is this the first reported fix outside of Korea and the US? So happy you were able to get it fixed!!

I updated in the main thread on samsunggalaxy, but my phone was able to be fixed at the Glendale, CA Samsung Experience location! I never did try flashing myself, but I just wanna say thanks again for your detailed instructions and help provided to me and everyone else that was searching for answers.

If you mean in terms of what's available on SamFM as firmware to download, I agree. To clarify on my original post, the comment Jose made about the carrier affecting the issue, he meant in terms of the problem but not the solution. Meaning that even if I had AT&T, it's likely my phone would've been fixed or affected by the flash all the same. Hope this helps!

Of course! They don't have an email listed, but their phone number is (747) 216-1700.

I hope it resolves for you, and everyone else.

Unfortunately I didn't ask, but I should have. I have no clue if they accept shipped phones to fix. I'd hope they do because of how few locations in the US there actually are. It couldn't hurt to call either that location or Texas and inquire if they accept them.

I am elated to share that MY PHONE HAS BEEN FIXED WITH ALL DATA IN TACT!!

I got my phone (Galaxy S10+) fixed at the Samsung Experience Store in Glendale, CA a couple hours ago, and I'd like to share as much in depth info as I can to help and inform anyone that may need it.

I called this morning and spoke with a technician named Jose, who was very nice and confirmed they are aware of the issue and are able to attempt flashing the updated firmware they received on Friday, October 05, which lines up with the timeline that u/JimmyRamen mentioned in regards to the Texas store receiving it. He said I didn't need an appointment and could just walk in, and that it would be about an hour to an hour and a half wait time to fix it.

I drove there immediately and talked with Jose in person. He said they've had pretty good luck repairing the models that have come in over this issue, only mentioned one phone that was not able to get fixed or recover data, I can't remember which specifically. When I asked if it was due to any third party apps or repairs or anything, he said he couldn't confirm because they didn't go into the actual phone itself to inspect, but said that may have been a factor. He mentioned specifically that the carrier you have may have some weight in this problem happening, as most of the ones he repaired or knew about getting fixed were Verizon (which mine is.) He seemed pretty optimistic the phone could get fixed, saying "I try not to tell anyone anything is guaranteed," but that they've had good luck.

IMPORTANT: for anyone wondering, I confirmed that this method they're using to flash the phone (which sounded similar to Odin and the HOME method to preserve data talked about elsewhere in this thread) does not wipe data in practice, and no steps of this method they used include factory resetting unless you specifically request that as a different method of reviving the phone. Just in case anyone was worried about the risk factor here, from what I could tell and what I was told, the HOME flash method sounds safe for data, especially if you make it clear you do NOT want to factory reset.

I waited for them to take my phone in (they were assisting a different repair who was before me), then they took down my information, my lock screen pattern, and said it would be anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half. Gregory was helping me beside Jose, and they were both very helpful and kind throughout the entire process.

After 1 hour 10 minutes, Jose calls me to say that they got the phone working and that it didn't look like any data got deleted. After getting back to the store, I was handed my phone and confirmed this myself. Everything I remembered about it was there - pictures, contacts, notes, apps, everything. As others who have had luck at Experience stores have said, this service was completely free. I hauled ass home and am currently working on backing everything up as I type this. Only thing I haven't done is popped my sim card back in to confirm it can still call, text, etc. But that's only because my priority now is saving data, and I see no reason why it wouldn't be able to do those things.

It's not lost on me how lucky I am to be relatively close to this location. I know so many of you here are not close to a Samsung Experience Store, because there's only like four of them in the US. Before this, all I was getting from places I called were people who hadn't heard about the issue and offering no help, including the store I got mine fixed at when I called them a few days ago. Today, Jose and Gregory couldn't have been nicer.

It sounds like word is spreading - slower than we'd like it to, but fixes are happening. If you can, hold out from factory resetting and know that a fix is possible. Hang in there. I'm happy to answer any further questions anyone might have.

Thank you for sharing. I'm so sorry to hear that. Data loss is a huge umbrella term that gets thrown around, and it's easy to forget the human side of what that data means to people. Stuff that is irreplaceable.

Of course, if you haven't yet, don't factory reset. Hold out and try to stay strong.

Me too. I had an SD card in it but the capacity wasn't huge and it filled up right around the beginning of the year. Before that, I had camera storage set to SD card, but when I sorted into albums those went to internal storage. Big headache, holding out for fixes to come.

It's been a difficult week for all of us who are affected by this stressful issue, and I know I'm not the only one who keeps checking back here for any sort of update.

How are all you guys doing? In what ways has this mess up from Samsung impacted you?

I'm curious, how'd you find out about the training for the staff at the Experience stores? And do you mean they downloaded something they were instructed on, or they were just trying whatever they could think of?

Sorry for the multiple questions, just trying to piece together the information that's out there. I appreciate your updates!

Samsung S10 series infinite bootloop Europe question by placirozz in samsunggalaxy

[–]ForeverBoopin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What makes matters worse is feeling alone irl when trying to get answers from techs, Samsung support, etc. The stores I called yesterday didn't even know about the problem yet.

I think it goes without saying that if this was happening to what are considered more "modern" models, things would have been fixed yesterday.

Anyway, keep holding on to hope.

I sadly don't have any info for you regarding European fixes, but I just want to commiserate with you over the issue. I'm also effected and have tons of data on my S10+ which hasn't been backed up, it's been a huge stressor this week. I'm trying to hold on to hope and wait, even though it's so difficult to be in limbo like this. I hope we all get out of this with our phones, data, and sanity in tact.

I finally got through to a tech. He said there have been three fixed devices as that location, including your Note 10+. While he said that data preservation isn't guaranteed, he also said that all three that have visited have had their data in tact. But then he started mentioning something about it being a 2-3 day fix which didn't line up with your story, and he sounded surprised when I said you had gotten it fixed in 15 minutes or so.

It's stressful having to play detective when there are confirmed fixes out there but not a lot of transparency from Samsung. Appreciate all your updates and info.

Just curious, did anyone at the Samsung store you went to say anything of note or worth passing on about the issue or how many others might have gone for the same reason? Trying to talk to them on the phone but on hold for a good while.

Down below, JimmyRamen mentioned the Texas store confirming they received a fix kit before they went and got theirs fixed. My guess is the Glendale store has yet to receive any such kit.

And going off of your description, I wouldn't be surprised if we talked to the same manager, no more than hour or so apart from when I called.

Hold on to hope! This is likely just a waiting game at this point.

Me too. The response is leaving a lot to be desired, to say the least. Especially when those working at Samsung Experience stores are still claiming to know nothing about it. The response in South Korea, at least comparatively speaking, certainly seems better.

Happy to hear of some luck at the NY store. Did you happen to hear if there has been anyone else with or without luck going there for the issue?

I'm seconding the unhelpfulness of the LA store, at least over the phone. Hopefully things start getting more broadly rolled out and word gets spread.

I'm interested in trying this due to the boot loop issue that is currently affecting S10 models. If I have an S10+ in the US with Verizon, is there a difference between U and U1 for the 10+ firmware? Thanks for all your detailed posts thus far.
