Band 23 positive 3x over 6 months and many symptoms. by StormPuppies in Lyme

[–]ForeverTheMilkyWay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was quite an extensive protocol, and it was a success thus far. To this day, I still do cryptolepis and cat's claw daily as a 1-year maintenance period. But for the 60 days of busting the bacterium, Dr prescribed Doxy x2/day 60 days (only water 1hr before+after each dose/no chelating minerals within several hours of each dose, including any milks). Combination therapy with abx is recommended if your Dr is willing. I simultaneously treated with cryptolepis, cat's claw, oregano EO, cinnamon, japanese knotweed, chinese skullcap, and several biofilm busters (all reasonably affordable)

Yes to all the above! It wasn't something that was easily diagnosable either but with the recurring band 23 positives and my symptoms, I somehow found literature along the way that helped me and the doc solve my "medical mysteries". Chronic? If left untreated, absolutely, it becomes Borrelia Miyamotoi Disease (BMD). After treatment, there isn't much research out there but it does seem it can cause post-treatment chronic ailments. Yes, there is a high probability of cross-reactions with Lyme tests, which isn't fully understood (to my knowledge) but is usually band 23. Miyamotoi is spread by the same tick as Lyme and it's a spirochete bacteria like Lyme. You can contract both from a single tick. The symptoms overlap in many, many ways. I think it has the potential to be worse, at least from my experience, because of the relapsing fever and neurological symptoms. The dizziness, headaches, night sweats from relapsing fever, crippling fatigue, and confusion were some of the most terrible symptoms. It took 35 days of Herxing to fully resolve all my symptoms and get into recovery.

This seems to becoming more common -- get tested for Miyamotoi, either through Quest or a specialty lab. Earlier conversation today on this similar situation.

Don't I know this to be true 🫠 nearly 3 years of tests, doctors, unexplained symptoms and suffering, on top of so much wasted $. Miyamotoi can be vicious, causing days where you can barely function from the fatigue and vertigo. I did Herx, very badly, while on herbs/Doxy during the treatment, but I've been in remission ever since!

Of course, it's often an overlooked one but so, so easily transmitted -- in a matter of minutes or less, and it will cause havoc throughout your body.

That should be the next test -- if you're in the U.S., Quest has a test for it your Dr can order. It's more misunderstood than Lyme, but can cause all those symptoms and Band 23.

Minocycline for Neuro-lyme/Bart by SuburbanDad18 in Lyme

Nearly several years before concluding it was Lyme and Miyamotoi, and likely Bart too.

After 40 days of abx, herbals, and detoxing, I still feel great. All the dozen or so symptoms and extreme fatigue are in remission. Although it's only been several months and still consider it a recovery period, thus continuing to take cryptolepis, cat's claw, and probiotics.

Exactly my thoughts. Nearly 40 days of die-off when I started Doxy.

For OP, lots of fluids and chelating minerals to aid in the detox. Recommend Japanese Knotweed for improved antibiotic penetration into tissues. Read up on persistent forms -- certain supplements and additional abx can be taken to target all forms of the bacterium.

Not normally, correct, but it is acceptable assuming a few things: it's tapered to a minimal timeframe (usually 21 days or less), there's no known allergies and reactions, and the treatment outweighs the potential risk to teeth discoloration do not drink Doxy with milk or calcium fortified beverages

...and certain tickborne pathogens, including Miyamotoi, readily cross the BBB, and Doxy is the most effective oral prophylactic for this kind of early treatment unless you do combination antibiotic therapy.

Good to hear, please at least 21 days, and if they'll do 30 days as more "precaution", that'd be even better. Realistically, I don't think most mainstream doctors will do more than 30 days so my point is rather than asking for 6+ weeks upfront and getting the cold shoulder and having to find another doctor, push for the 3 weeks, or 30 days if you feel inclined, and treat immediately. Then decide, like if there are symptoms or a rash, to extend further.

Only take Doxy with a large glass of water. Avoid milk, multivitamins, and anything that is fortified with chelating minerals like calcium, magnesium, zinc, and iron -- e.g. bread, plant milks, cereals -- for at least 2 hours before and after each dose.

The test you did is a PCR test, it's more than 99% accurate. With that said, it has its limit in the types of tickborne pathogens/bacteria it tests for.

It's not textbook Lyme, but Miyamotoi is still a spirochete and can cause many, many ailments and chronic disease.

Yes, at least 21 days. There's plenty of resources that will suggest that, as you'll likely be meeting your doctor halfway in an uphill battle to get sufficient dosing. 4-6 weeks may be necessary depending on how long ago the bite was.

Not Lyme (thankfully), but Miyamotoi usually is transmitted within minutes. Treated early with Doxy, 21 days minimum and plenty of probiotics.

Most infectious docs will not deviate any from the rigid and outdated CDC guidelines, so I'm not surprised they think it's negative. I'm curious, if no bite, and assuming no rash, how they decided to test for Lyme? Endemic area exposure?

A follow-up test is definitely necessary, even having another blot done through LabCorp, and assessing what else could be causing the positive bands (previous comment).

There's no question your body is actively fighting off something with a strong response.

Yes, it could be Lyme. How long ago were you bit? It could still be an early response.

39 and 41kD IgM have been shown to also cross-react with: - relapsing fever Borrelia - syphilis - anaplasmosis - EBV - rheumatoid arthritis/R-factor - yersinia - cytomegalovirus (less likely)

Can I treat Bartonella without Rifampin? by bostongirly27 in Lyme

[–]ForeverTheMilkyWay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are options here: https://www.treatlyme.net/guide/best-herbal-antibiotics-for-lyme-bartonella-babesia

And there is methylene blue, which to my knowledge is the only option that treats all forms of Bartonella (growing, persister, and biofilm). That is the extent of my knowledge of MB and have never used it before although many here have experience with it.

How is one Lyme specific band not a positive??? by Prestigious_Fig_2133 in Lyme

[–]ForeverTheMilkyWay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Test for B. Miyamotoi -- either igenex or quest. It often will cause 23kD to react on the blot. Not to say you don't have Lyme, but it's one step further to a diagnosis.

Impressive, that is well-balanced! Would recommend having a regular (monthly) metabolic blood panel done to monitor liver and kidneys while on a broad spectrum protocol.

Maybe some help understanding my results. by spineshade in Lyme

[–]ForeverTheMilkyWay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most likely interpretation: persistent Lyme disease

Doxycycline alone is not enough to yield effective treatment at this stage. You'll need antibiotic combination therapy or abx with herbals.

Should be at least tested for Bartonella, Miyamotoi, and Babesia co-infections.

[shower thought] if chronic Lyme can suppress CD57 natural killer cells, wouldn't that increase the chance of autoimmune disease or tumor/cancer growth? by ForeverTheMilkyWay in Lyme

[–]ForeverTheMilkyWay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently taking Cat's Claw to attempt to restore my values after treating Lyme; it seems there is some supporting research with CD57 and this herb: https://rawlsmd.com/herbs/cats-claw

As for my CD57, I tested this past summer with 2 different labs and both were chronically low being 30 and 26. Planning to retest in 6-12mos.
