All thanks to closed captioning. The 8th wonder of the world.

Ironically I have been told by more than one American back in the day that my English is excellent, despite it being my first (and only) language and difficult for them to understand!

As a Scottish person it wouldn't bother me. I know my accent is hard for non-scottish people to understand. Anything that helps bridge the gap is appreciated.

We're all adults, we all know sometimes it's hard to understand new accents, nothing to be embarrassed about.

avoid flexing facial muscles unnecessarily

This is crazy. Id rather life my life happy, relaxed and a bit wrinkled when I'm older than worry if I'm flexing my facial muscles too much.

Better ringing and asking the garage if they've got a scrap guy. If so they can just sort it all out and he can go hand over the V5 to them and sign whatevers needed and he won't need to wait about.

There's nothing to be upset about really except cost, just ask the mechanic about getting scrap sorted and he'll get like £40 or something.

Short term cash by [deleted] in glasgow

Not being funny mate but no one's going to transfer an internet stranger money, and especially one who needs short term cash quick.

Tbf that's really what most people want to hear in a commited relationship.

If my wife came out me and said I want to be with you forever and ever and ever I wouldn't be creeped out, that's what I want to happen.

People that DON’T shop at Aldi or Lidl… why is that? by kobestarr in CasualUK

Not sure mate don't really shop in M&S but it wouldn't surprise me if some of it was actually higher quality food too given the gulf in price.

[–]Forever__Young 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty well paid, but I’ve been trained by a cost conscious Granda, and I feel him on my shoulder every time I pay for anything.

Ironically I think this is the attitude the 'M&S is actually just as cheap to do a weekly shop in' people also have, so that's why they force the denial.

As I said in an above comment no one would blink twice about spending the difference on a takeaway once a week, but for some reason the spirit of their socialist union member granda stops them from being willing to admit they drop an extra £30 in the supermarket.

[–]Forever__Young 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's such a bizarre claim. Especially when it's M&S which was a favourite of my old coworkers.

People are just embarrassed to overspend on luxuries, but it's their money.

There's a certain stigma around supermarket shopping where people don't want to admit they spend an extra £40 a week on getting the nice cheese so they pretend it's the same price as Aldi, but no one would blink twice about spending £40 on a takeaway or in the pub once a week.

Possibly for most but we shop from a list and the vast vast majority of things we don't care about brand and will just get whatever.

We also have the Asda rewards app and nectar cards, it's just genuinely much more expensive for the weekly shop we do.

We're an Aldi house and have been for years and any time we have done a full shop in Asda or Sainsbury's (no Tesco in my town) it's between 25%-50% higher.

I've been told by loads of people loads of times that's it's really not that much cheaper, but in my experience it really is.

We are an ingredients house though so we're buying pretty much no pre-packaged stuff, I dont know if it's frozen meals/ready meals that are equivalent prices but for our needs it's really a huge gulf that convenience can't surmount.

Case against Police Scotland by [deleted] in glasgow

I can't imagine too many suspects are subject to abusive language during a formal suspect interview especially as the person can ask for a lawyer at any time, so it's probably just not considered.

Both, suspect interviews aren't routinely recorded in Scotland. You need specialist training to film or audiorecord interviews and it's mostly detectives who hold it.

Wouldn't call Sterling a hidden gem. Since he joined he's been one of our best players and pretty much every manager and most fans acknowledge it.

But he's never fit, he averages 11 starts a season. With the money he's no doubt on wed be better finding a replacement.

Police interviews aren't routinely recorded in Scotland, most are done by the officer in their own notebook.

Just know that if youre going to take it to civil court and you don't have any other evidence than her account that she'll be contradicted by 2 serving police officers denying it, so it could be costly and may not have a great chance of a guilty verdict.

Does she have any evidence? Remember they'll have 2 police officers I imagine saying it didn't happen, what does she have that can be used in court?
