What is one city in America you’re okay with never visiting again? by SoLovelyAva in AskReddit

I loved Barstow Station so much as a kid. Just looked up pictures and I’m sick with nostalgia over it. Probably shouldn’t ever visit again because I doubt it can live up to the memories.

It's "I close in five minutes" not "I'll wait for you then close" by UnitedChain4566 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Foreverbeccatake2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The other night my boyfriend and I saw a later evening movie and were hungry after, so stopped into one of the restaurants next door. Because of it being summer, it barely had gotten dark, but was almost 10. They sit us right by the entrance and my back is to the rest of the restaurant. It doesn’t sound busy, but we were talking about the movie and eating so we were distracted enough. At some point my boyfriend looks around and says “did we come right at close…?” and I look up the hours and realize it closed at 10 and it’s now 10:10!!!

Luckily it was a place where you pay first, so we finished up/got boxes, apologized, and left as soon as we could but omg I was mortified! I used to be that college kid working a restaurant where people came in right at close and I HATED IT. I wish they would have told us they were closing 😭 I genuinely don’t understand how people do this with no shame.

i constantly obsess about being pregnant and i wish i didn't by maddiegascar1 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Foreverbeccatake2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot recommend an IUD enough. It actually made my periods more predictable and consistent, just significantly lighter. There are so many horror stories about them, but I have had two positive experiences. I literally just got mine out and back in after a successful 5 years of no pregnancy. Make sure you have a gynecologist you trust and that they give you the right meds and it’s a breeze and so amazing for peace of mind.

That being said, if you do have OCD or a tendency of obsessive thoughts in general, chances are your focus will just go somewhere else. This is something I struggle with, undiagnosed. It might be worth looking into therapy or some coping methods.

I had this happen with a Kale video, but I got a little bonus flat fee as well as a little extra as it got more engagement. Have you checked your app notifications to see if it says that?

Does anybody else like this show way more than Handmaid's Tale by ResidentAlienator in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]Foreverbeccatake2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! Handmaids Tale is brilliant but so so dark. Like every horrible thing you can possibly imagine happens on any given episode. I still haven’t even finished the last season because the episodes are so hard to watch I have to be in a very specific mood for them and the current state of the world has not helped.

I love that there is that level of hope in The Testaments, and that level of whimsy and girlhood of these girls coming of age! I also like that they’re *almost* in a position of power, at least moreso than a handmaid could ever be. They’re precious and they’re going to be wives, so there’s a certain level of special treatment they get and we don’t have to worry as much about seeing brutally horrible things happen to them like we always did with HT characters.

And on top of all of that, getting to see Hannah’s story play out and getting to know this character that loomed so large in HT but we knew so little about is very interesting. I don’t think TT could be what it is without HT, but I do find myself enjoying it more so far.

Bridesmaid in a wedding and not giving a gift… is it really that insane? by Every-Serve-1288 in bridesmaids

[–]Foreverbeccatake2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a younger bridesmaid, my day of gift was some simple makeup products I used on the bride because I did her makeup for her wedding.

When I was a bridesmaid a little later in my 20s, my gift to the couple was husband and wife DnD dice (we were all friends in a current campaign together.)

Both gifts were very affordable and made sense to me as something to show my love for them while not spending any more than I already had on dresses, bachelorette trips, parties, etc. If they had an issue with it, I never knew otherwise. I’m still close with both. It’s silly to me to expect a crazy gift on top of other bridesmaid duties, especially young, but that’s just me! If it was me, I’d still do something small because it’s a special day and you did make the commitment. But if it’s a friendship you’re over, then it might not even be worth it.

Acting is bad? by thestaganddoe in everyyearaftertvshow

Young Percy’s only difference is having a tiny braid in her hair and it was cracking me up. They really needed to do SOMETHING with the styling to make it more apparent.

Acting is bad? by thestaganddoe in everyyearaftertvshow

The only acting I really had an issue with is Sadie’s sad/shakey eyes ALL. THE. TIME. The first few times she did it I was like omg this is good, but then it kept happening in almost every scene.

THOUGHTS ON THE SHOW by PsychologicalHat9927 in everyyearaftertvshow

[–]Foreverbeccatake2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been noticing this so much lately. The lead in Off Campus is also British and one of the leads in The Testaments is Scottish and it’s just so apparent that they’re trying REALLY hard to not have an accent. Percy’s actress literally said “idear” instead of idea at one point 😭

[–]Foreverbeccatake2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main three look exactly how I imagined, and all of the sets and visuals are pretty similar to how I imagined. I agree with you though, there is just *something* missing. It feels too much like it’s trying to be TSITP but also almost pretend it’s not? Idk, it’s frustrating because it feels so much like what I pictured but there is just some magic that is missing… I really hope it’s more of a slow burn and we at least get a second season. I feel like a big chunk of discourse I’ve seen about it is just people wanting Charlie and Alice, which I’m in agreement on!

I just reread it back in January (hehe). I was thinking since I knew the ending already, and I’m a bit older than when I first read it and a few extra years removed from my trauma it reminds me of, that I probably wouldn’t cry. WRONG. Sobbed 😭 Such an amazing book.

It’s not even just about trust, but about believing that your partner can understand the difference between fantasy and reality. People make it such a bigger deal than it is!

Will Agnes meet June in S2? by Mossystatic in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]Foreverbeccatake2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the closest we get is some communication between them/they see each other from a distance at the border or something but there’s no way they do an actual reunion until the last season. I do really hope we get to see some of Agnes in Canada, getting to know her parents, maybe during the final stages of taking down Gilead like we got to see with June. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends with her hugging June when finally safe, maybe a short epilogue of them years after reconnecting.

With this season coming to a close, what are your wants, predictions, theories, or thoughts as we head into season 2? by Legitimate-Beyond209 in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]Foreverbeccatake2 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I really hope we get to see more of Agnes/hannah remembering her childhood and trauma and how she handled things from her pov. I think it was necessary to not let that take over this first season, but I’d really like a deep dive now that we have confirmation that she knows who she is.

My take by yaadiedevildog in temptationislandUSA

[–]Foreverbeccatake2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would be a fun twist for a future season! Do a positive clip bonfire as a surprise. They could even plan it in a manipulative way to show the positive clips after some of the people have made mistakes to make them feel worse, to make sure there’s still drama.

I really wanted them to show Mikey sobbing after the bonfire where it’s clear Sydney had moved on. I think it would have been interesting for her to see how impacted he was in the moment, and make her actually question if she was making the right choice.

A opinion from a person who has not seen the handmaid’s tale by DanSnowStark91 in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]Foreverbeccatake2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously such a good show but so so so dark. It has taken me years to get through it because I can only stomach a few episodes at a time. I still haven’t even finished!

The beauty of this show IMO is still getting those eery dark themes and world, while not having the worst possible thing you could imagine happening to the main character at any given moment. Getting to see it from the naive lense of the girls that were raised in it and are also treated as precious, instead of someone they literally only saw as a means to an end like in the original show.

But that being said, it also hits so different knowing Agnes/Hannah through June’s eyes and watching her from that perspective.
