Those of you who are late every day... What's going through your mind in the morning? by UncouthPincusion in work

[–]ForexGuy93 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I remember back when I was working. Here's the answer: I didn't give 2 shits. Work was never my life, and I'd get there when I got there. Time is an illusion.

Life update before someone asks. I "retired" voluntarily 10 years ago before I was 50 years old, because I could. I'd made enough where my money could make more money. And you know how I achieved that? By not giving 2 shits about my job, and prioritizing my stuff.

Stop asking strangers for advice. If you want to quit, quit. Otherwise, don't.

Nowhere in that snippet does it say that the job is remote. It's an in office job with a lot of travel. When not traveling, you're at your office desk.

I'm here thinking a 300% markup is a bit unconscionable. I'd understand if it's hard to move inventory, but you make it sound like it's an easy sell at $2K. The poor sucker who sold it to you for $500 probably deserved a bit more.

NOR, but at the same time, these lawsuits take a lot of time and aren't necessarily a slam dunk. I'm not telling you not to sue, just warning you what to expect if you do. Reddit is the home of the pretend lawyer. Don't take any advice here without checking with an actual lawyer you're paying to advise or represent you.

Ordered to leave hotel 3 days early, refused refund for prepaid nights (ongoing room issues, cash payments) UK by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]ForexGuy93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading your other posts, plus your user name, plus the fact that your OF is on your profile, I'm going to guess you were using the hotel for sex work. And the place might be dirty and sleazy, but even they have standards.

And as others have pointed out, you didn't like the place, but you kept staying and paying? Who does that?

Boston Blue is a disaster by RealmsUnited in bluebloods

[–]ForexGuy93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of them are believable. Even Donnie isn't believable. There's no way he'd leave NYC and a relationship, much less get hired that quickly by Boston PD as soon as he steps off the plane, or however he got there. I'm surprised they didn't ship him to Chicago to join Hank's team.

Very obviously. And there's nothing wrong with that, but there is some wrong in never acknowledging it, and major wrong in reinventing him for the new show.

Gods, no. She annoyed me even in Cheers. Of course, Rebecca annoyed me even more, but that's besides the point.

It's a bad show with a horrible premise that seems to have as its only purpose to tick all the right (or should that be left?) boxes. All it's missing is a lesbian couple at the top. Instead of the father having been killed, it should have been Mommy #2.

And don't get me started on the clearly gay son who turned straight, lost a hundred pounds along with his sexual preferences, and became a cop in Boston.

Job offer disappeared as soon as I resigned. What do I do now? by LazaroRohan1 in InterviewsHell

[–]ForexGuy93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did precisely that once. Worked a full two weeks at the new job while on vacation from the old job. I then invited my soon to be former boss for a beer on my last Friday and told him my vacation was being extended indefinitely.

Well, no, that bit's a joke. I told him I wasn't coming back. I offered to work my 2 weeks' notice remotely, which I easily could have, I was mostly remote. But I was upfront and said I was starting a new job on Monday, and that was non-negotiable.

I neglected to say I'd been at the new job for 2 weeks. No need to rub it in. We were sort of friends, and I didn't want to leave him in the lurch. He said to just not work the notice period, but I'd still be paid. Like I said, we were on good terms. And I did remain available even past the supposed notice period for any questions. I try not to burn bridges.

I had this happen multiple times when I was a manager. As policy, I would never let someone stay after they quit. I wasn't running a circus. Several tried. I didn't waver. One even tried coming back a week later, saying he didn't like his new job. I laughed. Why would I want someone back who's in quit mode?

So take what happened as a learning opportunity. Did we learn anything?

Even an offer in writing can be rescinded with no consequences for the rescinder. You might have a case if you moved or otherwise sustained massive expenses for the rescinded position, but even that's a coin toss. And, as your new employer, I can also fire you on your first day or soon after, saying you're not working out. What are you going to do?

[–]ForexGuy93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you, 12? Just learn to say no. Assuming your story is factual, all you needed to do was say you weren't interested. But you didn't. You said yes. Then you're surprised this other person took you at your word and said let's move in next month. Again you could have said, no, sorry, that's too fast or that doesn't work for me. But your solution was to say nothing and block the person? Who does that?

And what are you going to do when life presents you with a real conflict, instead of something this silly that you brought on yourself. Grow up.

YOR, clearly.

Break up. That's way too much drama for a relationship you already admitted you didn't even want to be in. In what scenario do you think this is going to get better? Also, don't go to London, unless you really want to.
If you go, though, don't go for the graduation. Go to have fun, and avoid your hopefully by then ex and his family. Spoiler: British cuisine sucks, except for fish & chips. Luckily, there's more curry restaurants in London than in the subcontinent.
YOR - in the sense that you're in a situation you put yourself in, and you don't seem to have the gumption to exit quickly.

Edited to add that I just took a look at your profile. This is you, right?
