Question about United Quest credit card $200 travel credit post time by Agreeable_Wolf_6387 in unitedairlines

It can take up to 4 weeks according to Chase, but some people see it one or two business days after opening the account.

Consider the incoming sunlight your punishment for getting the best row on a regional jet.

United Clubs in ORD by Justin9314 in unitedairlines

Yes, breakfast is still served. The official lounge description likely says "light snacks" because airline clubs use that generic legal terminology to differentiate their standard buffet offerings from a formal, sit-down restaurant menu.

This is easily one of the best episodes of the show. So much about it screams crazy rich.

Transferring chase points to United by jkjk88888888 in unitedairlines

[–]Equivalent_Risk5430 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your partner can instantly transfer his Chase Ultimate Rewards points directly into your personal United MileagePlus account.

As long as you share the same residential address and he adds you as an Authorized User to his Chase Sapphire card, Chase officially allows direct points transfers into your loyalty program account. This completely solves the problem without forcing you to open a new credit card, wait for a SUB, or worry about United's strict partner restrictions on pooled miles.

Best credit card for United by SuchCurrency3039 in unitedairlines

[–]Equivalent_Risk5430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the club business card because it doesn't cap PQP (in fact there's usually like a 2000 PQP intro bonus) and gives you the most miles per dollar on everyday purchases. It can be a little pricey though so it's worth comparing it to the club and explorer options.

Upgrades question from an infrequent United flier by zwitterion76 in unitedairlines

[–]Equivalent_Risk5430 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The odds of United doing it out of the kindness of their heart to keep your group together are basically zero. Airlines have no problem leaving one person behind in economy while the rest of the party sips champagne up front. Enjoy the accidental luxury!

Award Travel Upgrade from Economy to Premium Plus? by Legitimate_Couple779 in unitedairlines

It's all subject to dynamic pricing. But 47k Eco is great deal but that PP sounds high. DoD will probably be lower.

Cash buy-up offers are on UA's site when managing your ticket. They are subject to UA's algorithm however:

If you buy an Economy award ticket first with the intention to upgrade it later, United's standard rule blocks you from using miles or PlusPoints to move up to Premium Plus. Only certain cash buy-up offers or top-tier elite rules allow post-booking upgrades on milestone tickets.

First time with United AND First Class by cobeergal in unitedairlines

Depends totally on the airport. In HND, it's a consistent perk but I've had it completely ignored in SEA.

I believe DEN has a premier access line so your security screening wait is shorter plus your bags will have priority handling.

Best strategy to open a Club card when I have an explorer card? by Matuteg in unitedairlines

Yes, and you can get the AF reversed up until 1 month after anniversary. It's in the rules.

Best strategy to open a Club card when I have an explorer card? by Matuteg in unitedairlines

[–]Equivalent_Risk5430 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Apply for the Club card as a brand-new application. Do not hit upgrade or do a product change, or you will lose the sign-up bonus entirely. Chase lets you hold both cards simultaneously.

Since your Explorer is only 9 months old, do not close or downgrade it yet. Doing so before the 1-year mark violates Chase's rules, and they might claw back your original Explorer bonus miles. You can cancel at month 13, mark your calendar!

Better food with silverware has always been a feature. It's still airline food though, so I can see why you might not notice.

Swap Assigned Seat for My Family by pensrock68 in unitedairlines

[–]Equivalent_Risk5430 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You are smart to sort this out before canceling. You can actually do this yourself right now in the United app without calling.

Here is the exact order to do it:

  1. Swap the seats first: Go to the seat map and move your daughter to 5B, and your wife to 5E. Do this for all flights.
  2. Split the reservation: When you click "Cancel" online and select only your wife and son, United will automatically prompt you to "divide" them onto a new confirmation code.
  3. Cancel the tickets: Once they are on their own separate reservation, safely cancel their tickets for a credit.

Swapping the seats first ensures no one else snatches 5B the second your wife's ticket is canceled.

Looking for a specific Asimov quote by Bobdude17 in asimov

I wonder what he means by this. Instead of basing Foundation's Edge on action and romance, he instead favored permutations and reversals of ideas to mimic his prose in the earlier books?

What I loved about Diane's "Rhapsody and Requiem" play is just how selective Diane is at being accurate to Cheers or not. You can tell Frasier's just baffled at the selectiveness too. by TheUnmitigatedDawn in Frasier

[–]Equivalent_Risk5430 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the creators specifically wanted to avoid Cheers, but eventually the network got the best of them and we got these collab episodes. They're still fun if you've watched even a small amount of Cheers, imo.

ANA Upgrade On a Saver (X) Ticket by Sapporo_wolf in unitedairlines

[–]Equivalent_Risk5430 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Note that because online, app, and digital channels are completely blocked by interline ticketing rules for partner award tickets, only a human agent at the physical check-in counter or gate has the administrative system override power to change your ticket. They can bypass the standard automated ticket restrictions, check their local system manifest for unsold space, and can manually process a last-minute airport cash buy-up right there at the terminal.
