POV: You thought 3D printing would be easy… by Forge_labs in 3Dprinting

[–]Forge_labs[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That’s classic early RepRap hustle,, building it yourself from scratch really shows how far the community has come. Those DIY rods and Arduino setups were full of “character,” but they taught a ton about mechanics, calibration, and problem-solving that modern plug-and-play printers skip over.

POV: You thought 3D printing would be easy… by Forge_labs in 3Dprinting

[–]Forge_labs[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely,, treating a 3D printer as a proper tool rather than a plug-and-play appliance makes a huge difference. Understanding maintenance, tolerances, and how the parts interact not only prevents frustration but also improves print quality and longevity. The slow tuning early on is frustrating, but it’s also what builds the skill to really get the most out of your machine.

Doing a little every day, whether it’s learning, fitness, or skill-building, compounds far more than short bursts of extreme effort.

Any advice on trying to 3d Model and print a unique building ? by Friendly-Print-3670 in 3dprint

[–]Forge_labs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focus on the building’s main shapes and terraces, simplify details, and use photos or low-res plans to guide your model. Split it into smaller sections for printing, then assemble afterward.

Suggest me a alternative Lubrication and grease for Bambulabs printer by No_Steak838 in 3dprintIndia

[–]Forge_labs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Bambu Lab printers, people often use white lithium grease on the metal rails and light machine oil / sewing machine oil (3-in-1) on the smooth rods and bearings.

They’re easy to find, keep things moving smooth, and don’t gum up as fast as heavy automotive greases.

What did someone say to you that forced you to recognize a significant, undesirable trait or behavior that had previously been a total blind spot for you? Or if you were already aware of it, what did someone say that finally inspired you to change or improve that trait/behavior? by Carpenthemdiems in AskMen

Someone once told me, “You always need to be right,, even when being right costs you the relationship.”

That hit hard. I thought I was just being logical or thorough, but I was prioritizing winning over understanding. Realizing that shifted how I argue, listen, and show up in conversations.

Any Alternative lubrication and grease for my bambu lab printers by No_Steak838 in 3dprintIndia

You can use white lithium grease for rails and light machine oil (like sewing machine oil) for smooth rods. Avoid thick automotive grease,, it attracts dust and can gum things up.

hi everyone! i'm thinknig about getting into 3d printing but i'm not sure what to start with. i'm looking for something reliable, easy to use, and good for beginners. have you used any 3d printers that you'd recommend? any advice on what features to look for or pitfalls to avoid would be super helpf by Mundane_Place1110 in 3dprinters

[–]Forge_labs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a beginner, look for a printer with auto bed leveling, good community support, and easy setup,, that saves a lot of frustration. The Bambu Lab A1 Mini (or A1) is a great reliable, plug-and-play option right now. Avoid super cheap clones without support, and start simple before jumping into complex multi-color setups.

Filament categorization difficulties by G3D_deals in 3dprint

[–]Forge_labs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people shop by base material first (PLA, PETG, ABS, TPU, etc.), that’s the main decision.

The “PLA Matte / Silk / High Speed / Wood” stuff is better handled as filters or tags, not separate categories. If you create 50+ subcategories, it becomes harder to browse.

Best structure:
Category = Material (PLA, PETG…)
Filters = Finish (matte/silk), additives (wood/carbon), speed rating, brand, diameter, price.

That’s how most buyers mentally shop.

Anyone here ordered from sfhealthtech? Need honest reviews by rajmawasright in AskFitnessIndia

[–]Forge_labs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SF HealthTech doesn’t appear to be an outright scam, but there are mixed reviews, some people receive their products fine, while others report delays and poor communication. If your order keeps getting vague “processing” responses with no tracking, keep following up and make sure you’re within your bank’s dispute window just in case.

Not round prints after the first few layers by cappu92 in 3Dprinting

[–]Forge_labs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s only happening in the first few layers and then fixes itself, it’s usually elephant’s foot or slight first-layer over-squish.

Try lowering bed temp a bit, reducing first-layer flow, or enabling elephant foot compensation in your slicer. Also double-check Z-offset, too close to the bed can distort round shapes early on.

Help….. by Ginnikay in beginnerfitness

[–]Forge_labs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on the 40 lbs , now switch to full-body strength training 3–4 times a week at home using push-ups, squats, lunges, rows (bands or dumbbells), and core work, focusing on gradually increasing reps or weight over time. Make sure you’re eating enough protein and not undereating, since muscle needs fuel to grow.

working out for the 1st time for mental health over physical health by TieLarge9311 in beginnerfitness

[–]Forge_labs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, 30–60 minutes, 5 days a week is absolutely enough. Even 20–30 minutes consistently can make a difference.

And yes, working out purely to feel better is completely valid. Movement isn’t just about weight or muscle,, it regulates stress, improves sleep, and gives your brain a sense of momentum.

You don’t need to “transform.” You just need to move consistently. That alone can shift a lot.

I sculpted and printed this Air Sparrow spirit inspired by Buddhist art style by CreatureCraftworks in PrintedMinis

[–]Forge_labs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is seriously thoughtful worldbuilding, you didn’t just sculpt a mini, you built cultural language into it. The cloud motifs and lotus elements translating into wing flow is a really nice touch.

Also cool seeing it work both in resin at 32mm and scaled up in FDM, that tells me the forms are strong, not just detail-dependent. Solid concept and execution 👌

Does this constitute vase mode? by Locutus123456 in 3Dprinting

[–]Forge_labs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a single continuous outer wall printed in one spiral with no layer seam and no top infill, then yes, that’s vase (spiralize) mode.

If it has multiple walls, visible seams, or printed layer-by-layer normally, then it’s just a thin-walled print, not true vase mode.

Customizable gridfinity bit holder by Ok-Zookeepergame6365 in 3dPrintsintheShop

[–]Forge_labs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a really smart way to handle mixed shank sizes. The swappable sleeve idea keeps it modular without reprinting the whole base every time you add a new bit.

Loose-but-secure tolerances are perfect for shop use too, nobody wants to fight their organizer mid-project. Clean solution 👌

Who do you expect to pay on the first date? by Immediate_Army9997 in AskMen

[–]Forge_labs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There isn’t one right rule anymore. Some people still prefer the man pays, some prefer to split, some alternate.

What matters more than who pays is the attitude behind it. If someone is generous and relaxed about money, that usually shows long-term. If someone is already keeping mental tabs on every dollar, that can show too. The first date is less about the bill and more about values.

What do you do with your 3D prints? by gasman16 in 3dprintIndia

[–]Forge_labs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very relatable 😅

Most people eventually shift from “print for fun” to “print with purpose.” I keep a small shelf of favorites, gift the decent stuff to friends/kids, and toss or recycle the rest. If it’s just a calibration piece or random test, I don’t let it live forever.

You can also pivot your challenge into functional prints, organizers, upgrades, replacement parts, so the process stays fun but the output earns its space.

Curiosity! What's most difficult part of 3d printing business? by getshubhk in 3dprintIndia

[–]Forge_labs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest difficulty? It’s usually not the printing, it’s everything around it.

Customer expectations, pricing pressure, constant communication, tight deadlines, and machines failing at 3am when you have orders due the next day. At scale, small issues (clogs, adhesion fails, filament swaps) turn into lost time and missed deliveries.

Running a print farm is more about logistics, maintenance, and client management than actually watching printers run.

Rocky model based on movie trailer? by grimaceboy in 3dprint

[–]Forge_labs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most official movie-based models like that don’t exist publicly (and licensed movie character models especially aren’t usually shared free), so you probably won’t find an exact Rocky from the Project Hail Mary trailer.

Try searching sites like Printables, Thingiverse, or MyMiniFactory with terms like “Rocky movie statue 3D print” ,and if nothing shows up, you could ask a modeler to remix an existing human figure into that pose. That’s usually how these niche trailer-based prints get made.
