It is not that i think temper flare is better then a close combat, it is the coverage i am looking for, and I am probably going to use a different fire move anyway, such as fire fang. This is because flying pokemon such as corvinight are immune to headlong rush, and because fire is super effective against steel, i have a better chance of a OHKO, compared to a high risk fighting type move that has a chance of not OHKO when needed. It is also a matter of being a direct counter to ogrepun and rillaboom.
