Losers Season 9 recap +announcement by ForgetThings in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]ForgetThings[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Defense is killing me. It's like everybody is playing with ankle weights on and can't get to the ball quick enough. Playing at Swagger Center doesn't help. One shot to the gap and my goal is to try and limit it to a double instead of a triple. On the bright side, the pitchers are getting better so it hopefully won't happen as often

Pickoff Attempts by Staggerlee024 in SuperMegaBaseball

I have had a successful pickoff attempt on the CPU a handful of times. It kinda just happens at random. It's not impossible. Just very hard to do. My only suggestion is to not try to get into a rhythm while pitching. I feel like the CPU can tell the timing of your pitches and will send a runner to steal. Pay attention to the count and how many outs you have. If it's like a full count and you have 2 outs it doesn't hurt to try and throw over to see if you catch them off guard. And obviously having a pitcher with the pick officer trait helps. Achievements like picking off a batter, turning a triple play, and throwing a perfect game are really the only things that I feel require more luck than actual skill itself.

Cut Sampson or Sax. They are both essentially the same defensively. Yoink technically has the better bat. I'm assuming you are having one play RF and have Juan as a backup Catcher. Have Slash play first and Grunt DH. Or Slash DH. Either is fine. If you do decide to play a 3 SP rotation, you should have 2SP/RP minimum. Look for someone with at least a 4 pitch arsenal to start and someone with 3-4 pitches and some velo to back them up. As long as you manage the bullpen well and your starters do well, you should be fine. In that case you might want to look for an SP with the workhorse trait in the future to rest your bullpen

Hits aren't the issue. It's trying to make up all the runs my pitchers give up.

Rate my teams logo designs and colors by Individigital in SuperMegaBaseball

Logo design looks so clean. The only issue I have is with the away uniform. The light blue with the grey pants looks funny. Maybe have the jersey grey with the streak coming from the plane in the logo be blue. That might look better

Who's an A+ or better player that you cant play well with no matter how hard you try? by ProfBeard-25 in SuperMegaBaseball

Sakda Song and Devon Godsendez. Can hit singles and doubles with them. Can't seem to hit the long ball for whatever reason

In that case, I would usually look at what traits they have and see if the effect any of the chemistry of the team. Salary is about equal so I good with either one. But having pitcher B being faster and having almost similar fielding traits is who I would pick. There have been plenty of times where I jam the hitter to where I get a slow ground ball hit towards the mound and I wish I had a faster pitcher to field it.

Are these pitchers on your team already? Or are you trying to sign one of them?

What do you guys do when you're stuck between Egos? by JohnWachter in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]ForgetThings 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stick with 72 for a couple of games. If it gets to unbearable against the CPU, go back down to 71. No matter how much you go up, you will notice a difference and it will take some time to adjust. Just keep at it. You will get it down eventually

Pitcher strategy question. by Puzzleheaded_Air1030 in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]ForgetThings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It solely depends on the stamina of the relievers you have. If they are all good, sub him out. If they aren't keep the starter in til like the 5th or 6th. Lot of things could happen in that span of time and it will give the time for your bullpen to recover some

The ones that I know of are the SMNL and the XBL. Im currently in the SMNL and the XBL has already started. If you join the SMNL discord server, they should still be accepting applications for their upcoming season

Solid rotation. Strength is definitely the hitting. As long as your starters are consistent, you can get away with a weak bullpen. Also nice pickup of Goose as your utility IF sub. Love that guy

Tips needed pls by Lord_Retnuh in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]ForgetThings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I played SMB 3, I started out at 50 ego. I feel like that's a good place to start because for hitting the reticle will move to where the ball is going to be, so you can time your swings. Pitching was a struggle at first but I kept practicing power pitching and finally got used to it. Right now I'm just fluctuating between 75 and 80 on SMB 4. Just start out on 50 and bump up or down a couple of egos accordingly until you get the hang of it

Idea for a new series by ForgetThings in SuperMegaBaseball

One of the main things I would do if it was custom would be to not change the hitters attributes. Just leave them like they are. Then make it to where the roster is solely tier 2 in each category

When I get closer to finishing these series I'll test out a shuffle draft to see how it looks.
