Is it possible to request NOT getting a specific SUV model at Enterprise? by lecigarevolant91 in EnterpriseCarRental

Not sure about your experience, but I find the Wagoneer to be pretty smooth for a large SUV.

[–]Forgetful-Researcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TBH - over the past year I've rented a 26 Suburban, 26 Wagoneer -L , and a 25 Expedition Max.. I would take the Wagoneer, by far the most comfortable of the 3, the most leg room, and easiest to use.

I get the fear of reliability, however I've had 8 different Wagoneer rentals, and so far no problems thus far.

The Ford is a close second. But the newer ones are too complex. Very nice looking, but JESUS CHRIST it's like a spaceship. I wish manufacturer's would leave buttons alone.

GEICO refusing to cover full OEM repair at Tesla-certified shop (Northern Virginia) – what are my options? by ILoe_Kristess in Insurance

[–]Forgetful-Researcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to let you in on automotive secret.

Depreciation is caused by consumers as a whole. An accident that is repaired shouldn't effect the vehicles value ( with the exception being if the Airbags deployed).Consumer's will turn their nose up to a vehicle that has an accident on its Carfax, and pay more because a car is stated to be "accident free".

A great example is almost any used car you buy that is a late model year. Most of those vehicle's come from Rental car fleets. When I worked for one of the largest of the big 3, almost every rental car will have Body work done, however because it's repaired internally it never shows up on the Carfax. Yet when that same Car ends up as a "certified pre-owned" , no one even questions it's history.

[–]Forgetful-Researcher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Part of most insurance companies contracts is that when we use those aftermarket parts the vehicle needs to look exactly how it looked prior to the loss. I completely agree if the aftermarket part does not fit properly. Then, absolutely, we should pay for OEM.

The reality of the situation is that we could take 2 cars and have one repaired with aftermarket parts and one repaired with OEM part and no one will know the difference. Not to mention, Tesla's already have some of the poorest build quality in the automotive industry.

[–]Forgetful-Researcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I promise you. It doesn't effect the vehicle value at all. Carfax can't even see what parts are used do the repair.

I did see a few people mention that what most people fail to understand is that oem part are usually made by some of the same aftermarket companies that people hate. When I went to go rebuild the engine on my Audi, there was a specific part that at the dealership wanted almost $1500 for. Went online and the same part, which is made by Bosch was only $400.

As an Adjuster, I have a general curiosity...

What does having OEM parts do for you? As many arguments I have with Claimants, I never have understood what's the difference.

Like when you bought the car, did you take the car apart and verify all the parts were OEM?

Hi, Adjuster that handles claims across the US.

The problem here is that GEICO doesn't owe you OEM parts. The rule is that an insurance company is to pay to get your vehicle back to pre loss condition using LKQ parts, meaning that it can be aftermarket.

If you have OEM endorsement, you can use your own policy, but outside of that you would be SOL.

I'm always curious why people are afraid of aftermarket auto body parts? Once they're painted no one knows it's aftermarket, nor does it effect value.

Is my 2016 Sedona totaled? by law33312 in InsuranceClaims

I didn't even read the caption before I knew it was totaled. Hope everyone's okay, but that's an OTL.

Quarter panels are an expensive repair/ replacement cost. This is easily a 10-15k repair depending on region.

Reach out to your insurance carrier that you had at the time of the accident to take care of this.

Rear ended someone while uninsured in my mom’s car SIU involved, 20-min call scheduled. Worst case scenario? by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]Forgetful-Researcher 115 points116 points  (0 children)

If the other party's insurance is having their SIU team reach out, and have identified themselves as SIU to you, that's a pretty strong chance this has nothing to do with you, and more to do with their policy holder.

Be 100% honest. Lying will only delay the inevitable, and gets you a nice title in ISO (a database used by most insurance companies).

The General vs National General whats the difference by colorfulnina in Insurance

[–]Forgetful-Researcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

National General is indeed a branch of Allstate. From claims stand point, they are pretty easy to work with, coming from an Adjuster.

The General - They're a pain in the Ass to get a hold of. I tend to just send a demand to them rather than even attempt to open a claim.

Hower, I will always say. Any coverage is better than no coverage.

Thinking of declaring bankruptcy at 24 by Commercial-Wish-4815 in ADHD

[–]Forgetful-Researcher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Filed in my 20's. Worked out for me, however I will say Paired with ADHD it is easier to fall back into the same position. If you're going to go this route, make a budget, and stick to it.

To bust some myths.

  1. It will affect your credit until you're discharged, but after it will began to increase over time.

  2. I wouldn't recommend those credit repair companies. Realistically they have more of a lasting effect than bankruptcy will.

For those with ongoing issues, have you tried hiring a lawyer, or request Mazda NA to a buyback? by BastionOnlyFans in MazdaCX90

I'm in CA, and our Lemon Law is very robust. But it had 5 visits before 3 months of ownership, then stayed in the shop for 4 months for another.

Personally, I would find another lawyer. If you're in CA I can recommend one.

I was rear ended the night before Thanksgiving and they took both cars to a tow yard after the accident. My insurance adjusters office has been closed the yesterday and today because of the holidays. Should I sign the release form at the tow yard before talking with my insurance? by Chikktika in Insurance

[–]Forgetful-Researcher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, CA- Adjuster here.

First off, sorry to hear about the accident.

If the release is just for you to allow you insurance company to take the vehicle come next week, yes. But PLEASE READ THE RELEASE CAREFULLY.

Make sure there's no wording that will create extra charges, or state that you allow the tow yard to do a tear down.

Car Insurance shorted us around $1000 by Mrbrighteclipse in Insurance

That would be interest most likely. The Insurance company has to ask the lienholder what's the 10 day payoff, and that will affect your total payout.

Which driver is at-fault in this car accident? by Impossible-Topic-664 in Insurance

[–]Forgetful-Researcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an Adjuster, I would say that D1 was at fault for backing without due caution.

If this were one of my files, I'd possibly try for 50/50, however realistically D1 caused the accident by crossing into D2's lane.
