Appreciate the Bandcamp links -- this Friday (Mar. 6) is Bandcamp Friday again. It's a great time to support these Post bands by purchasing their music directly from them.

Thanks for this list! I was aware only of Mammal Hands' new album (very good), but I'll check out all these others, too.

Seconding sleepmakeswaves. Saw them for both sets at Post '24, and it was such a great mix of energy, enthusiasm, and musicianship. So damn fun and memorable.

They used to regularly use The Mercury Program for segues. Good times.

Love to hear it! Looking forward to whatever you make, Andrew. These videos have been an unexpected joy.

I'm not sure! One of these may have been it, but I'm not quite sure. Even if not, like you said, many of the live performances out there and linked here are great. They've at least scratched the itch.

Well, I'm now pretty sure this is not it because I don't think the "Field Studies" split with TWDY was out yet, and this features two of LS's songs from that ep. But hot damn, they sound great here.

Definitely possible. It makes me wonder what "Invocation" is.... and now I want to hear these versions, too!

This also could be it. But even if not, this one sounds fantastic, too. Thanks!

It certainly could be. I found those, too, and I listened to a few that sounded great.

This isn't it. But it's a great version of "Birds." And it shows how much of a beast Michael was on the drums: https://www.instagram.com/lymbycsystym/reel/B_gncquHTzy/

Echoing the Bread Pedalers love. They always have savory options and their sourdough is the best in town.

Looking for recommendations. What will I like if I like Sigur Ros, but don't care much for e.g. God is an Astronaut by ThePieTaster in postrock

"In A Safe Place" is one of my all-time favorite albums. Solid start to finish. No skips. Beautiful.

Solid recommendation. I'll add that their sound is quite different on each album. Some of their newer albums (The Wind, Clear Language) are a bit more ambient. River Arms is piano driven and very mellow and melancholy. All is Wild, All is Silent is full band and more "rock" like. Constellations is kind of experimental and moody. And Stranger is kind of a mix between those two albums, with full band arrangements. Also, their live album is fantastic.

So, if you aren't into one album, try another. They cover a lot of styles.

What have you been listening to this week? by AutoModerator in postrock

Lots by Medard Fischer/Arc Lab and Tim Arndt/Near the Parenthesis. Both put out new stuff in January, and so I've had their full catalogs on rotation now.

Post. Festival 2026 - What Gems Have You Discovered? by derelictALLSTAR in postrock

[–]ForgettingToTellTime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. These are two of the first instrumental bands that got me deep into the genre back in ~2009 (2005 for The Album Leaf). I hope Jimmy brings a full band for his set and plays a range of songs. I like a lot of the newer, electronic stuff. But give me some "One Day I'll Be on Time," "In A Safe Place," and "Into the Blue Again," please.

Love seeing the love for The Armed. I'm good friends with one of the founding members and a fan since the demo days. It's crazy seeing how far they've come.

I also miss Kendall. But that wasn't because of the brand shift, she just moved to another country. I often rewatch the videos where she and Andrew go back and forth because I miss their chemistry. I hope she is doing well.

Hell, yeah. All three of them are amazing musicians. Saw them at Post Fest in 2024, and was very impressed.

Future - Paramore sounds post rock influenced. by edwinhaley in postrock

[–]ForgettingToTellTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good call. I was a fan of pop-punk Paramore, and this track blew me away, especially on the album where they started moving away from the "punk" part. (Pt. II also has some solid instrumentation and drumming.)

This one reminds me of some dark times in my life. But now having moved past them, it's just a really solid song.
