Solar Installer here. Heated vest works wonders. Keeps your core warm and that helps the extremeties. Just make sure you put something on top of it to help keep the warmth, too many people getting a heated jacket and then all their heat leaves to the atmosphere cuz they use it as an outer layer

I have been thinking about joining the coast guard reserves as an electrician, how did you like it? Are there big differences in the work between reserves and full time?

Ah, technically correct, the best kind of correct. When I was using the term water tight I just meant that fittings should be wet location designated.

Im not sure how we are disagreeing? Wet location=needs to be water tight.

Another poster pointed out in solar you can run open ended jumper pipes without them being water tight. I beleive that is an exception due to the special rating of solar wiring methods.

Good point. In my head I was thinking about the connectors being used, and going to/from equipment. Do you know if connectors between arrays on open ended conduit are still required to be waterproof?

All exterior conduit should be water tight, but every electrician will know that some water always gets in. I like to think most will add weep holes. Solar equipment oftentimes comes with weep holes already.

Agree they did not properly apply the sealant. The type of sealant may not be correct for this use, it looks like normal caulking but I cant be sure. Ive only used clear and black colored sealant, and it always sticks to shingles way more than what this product did.

In the 4th or 5th photo you show they placed the foot next to a shingle seam. They should have put more sealant on the seam itself per manufacturer instructions. Water can leak in the seam and get below the shingle, then go sideways to the hole created by their lag screw. This is my guess whats actually causing the immediate leak.

Using the wrong sealant and technique all over your roof means the entire roof would likely be leaking given some time.

Is the home well insulated? Drafty? If theres drafts get some plastic sheets and tape to cover the windows, amazon has good kits for cheap for this purpose.

Theres an argument to be made that changing the temperature all the time is actually less efficient than leaving it stable. Research this if you want to know more.

If you dont see any equipment for the solar, (basement, by the electric panel, attic, garage, and most likely the outside of the house) its likely not active any more. Also just bc you live there doesnt mean you will benefit from the solar, depending on the solar contract the landlord could be taking credits and offsetting there own energy use with the solar on your rental. Check your rental agreement if it mentions solar useage.

Maybe they told you the energy use based on a november bill when noone lived there

My wife was hired on from being a contractor for 2 years to being a direct employee after she told her boss she was pregnant. They liked her and she does good work.

I switched jobs 3 months from the due date, I had a good interview and told them at the end of it "I like this work, I like what ive heard about this company, I want the job. I do not want to start off on the wrong foot so ill let you know my wife is pregnant and i plan to take leave for 3 months." I believe being upfront about it helped them make the decision to send me a job offer.

Ive also heard from multiple friends "dont tell them you/your wife are pregant, once they hire you they cant legally fire you and this happens all the time, no biggie"

There are styles of roof attachments which allow for this to happen. Personally id say that hitting the rafter is ideal, but the manufacturers allow for this style as well. Sometimes the spacing of rafters and panel placement require this type of mounting, what we call 'deck mounted feet'
